HAPPY PARENT'S DAY to all the incredible parents out there.
This letter is for my fellow ausome parents; the ones who walk a unique journey filled with challenges, victories, unconditional love and countless moments that remind us how extraordinary our children truly are. 💙
-----------------------------------------------------------
To my fellow Ausome Parents and every parent walking this beautiful journey,
I see you.
I see the parent who wakes up already tired because the night was filled with little sleep.
I see the parent who has spent hours searching for answers, reading about therapies, learning new ways to communicate, and trying everything possible to help their child.
I see the tears you wipe away quietly because you don’t want anyone to know how heavy your heart feels sometimes.
I see the moments when you look at your child and wonder, “Will the world understand them? Will people be kind to them? Will they be okay when I’m not there?”
Those are the questions only an autism parent truly understands.
But I also see something else.
I see a parent who celebrates the little things that others may overlook.
A new sound.
A new word.
A small step forward.
A peaceful day.
A smile that lights up the room.
A hug that says, “I love you” without saying a single word.
Because we know that progress doesn’t always come in big moments.
Sometimes, progress comes in tiny miracles.
To the parents who feel like they are not doing enough; please remember this:
Your child does not need a perfect parent.
They need the parent who stays.
The parent who learns.
The parent who advocates.
The parent who fights for them even on the days when they feel completely exhausted.
And that parent is YOU!
You may not realize it, but every appointment you attend, every battle you fight, every time you choose patience over frustration, and every night you whisper, “Tomorrow we try again,” is a beautiful act of love.
Your child may not always be able to say thank you.
They may not always show love in the way the world expects.
But they feel it.
They feel your arms when you hold them.
They feel your patience when they struggle.
They feel your love in every sacrifice you make.
To the autism parents who are tired, overwhelmed, or feeling alone, please know that you are not walking this road by yourself.
There is a whole community of parents who understand the tears, the fears, the victories, and the unconditional love that comes with raising an amazing child.
One day, when you look back, you will realize something:
You were so busy fighting for your child that you didn’t notice you were becoming stronger too.
You are your child’s safe place.
You are their biggest advocate.
You are their home.
Keep going, mom and dad.
Celebrate the little victories. Hold on during the hard days. Give yourself grace.
Because in your child’s eyes, you are already everything they need.
With love,
From one ausome parent to another 💙
