Limp Bizkit are reportedly back in the studio. Fan photos and sightings suggest work has resumed on album seven — their first since Still Sucks in 2021.

Nothing's been announced. No title, no date, no label statement. And there's good reason to hold your excitement: Wes Borland told us back in 2022 that the band had gone into the studio roughly seven separate times over a decade trying to finish a record, with Fred Durst never satisfied with where it was heading. That album had a name — Stampede Of The Disco Elephants — and it never came out.

So this might be attempt number eight.

But there's something else that makes this one land differently. Sam Rivers died in October last year, and by multiple accounts he'd been working on new material with the band beforehand. Whatever album seven turns out to be, it's the first without him — and possibly the last to carry his playing.

They headline Louder Than Life next month. Bigger than they've ever been, by Borland's own reckoning.

Eighteen days of reports, denials, a deleted band statement and public walk-backs. And in the end, Sid Wilson answered it himself without saying anything at all.

He updated his Instagram bio to read " 1997-2026." Past tense. End date attached. That's the whole confirmation.

No explanation. No farewell essay. No bitterness. Just a start date, a dash, and an end date — from a man who spent nearly three decades communicating through a gas mask and a turntable.

But look closer at that first number. He wrote 1997. Every record — including ours — has him joining in 1998, right before the self-titled debut. He's dating it a year earlier, which would put him in the fold during the Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. days.

Twenty-nine years by his own count. And when a man writes his own epitaph for a job that long, he probably gets to pick the start date.

Queens Of The Stone Age have announced album nine. It's called Perfecth.

They didn't do it with a press release. They did it by playing five-finger fillet on camera — the bar game where you stab a knife between your spread fingers as fast as you can. A September 30 release date was written on screen at the start.

By the end of the game, the date had been scratched out. Now the official line is just "coming soon."

So: the record exists, it has a title, and its release date was destroyed by a knife. Which, for the band who set up a complaint hotline as part of this same rollout, tracks perfectly.

Twenty-eight years, ended in one sentence.

Slipknot have confirmed they're no longer associated with Sid Wilson, effective immediately. No reason given. No mention of the three decades. Just a line wishing him the best in his future endeavours — and then they deleted the post.

The timeline is the wild part. TMZ broke it two weeks ago. Jim Root told everyone not to believe what they read. And on Wednesday, Sid stood up at the World Scratch Invitational and introduced himself as number zero, from the world famous Slipknot. Present tense. Two days before this landed.

He joined in 1998, right before the debut. He was the texture underneath everything and the most unhinged man on that stage for a generation of fans.

The last Mötley Crüe album came out in 2008. Eighteen years ago. And Nikki Sixx just explained why there probably won't be another one.

His argument: to put out ten songs you have to write twenty, hope five are great, and then watch everybody hear exactly one of them. Radio changed, streaming changed, so he'd rather write when lightning strikes and cut it right then.

He's not wrong about the business. But there's something rough about hearing the guy who made Dr. Feelgood explain why nobody should bother making one anymore. Those records weren't delivery formats. They were places you went for forty minutes.

Fourteen years, five albums, and Caleb Shomo played basically all of it himself. Guitars, bass, drums, vocals, production — one guy in a room, nobody else allowed in.

Pure Ecstasy is the first Beartooth record where that isn't true. Jordan Fish co-produced. Misha Mansoor helped birth the title track. Connor Denis actually played the drums. And it's the first album Caleb's made since telling the world who he is.

Rush went home last night, and the cameras went with them.

All four Toronto shows at Scotiabank Arena are being filmed for a live concert film — the 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th. One down, three to go.

Geddy on why Toronto: hometown, demand for a film has been off the charts, and the four-night run means over forty songs, which gives them the best chance to capture it all.

And here's the thing nobody's connecting. Back in June at the Kia Forum, Alex Lifeson confirmed the band had deliberately rehearsed close to forty songs specifically so they could rotate deep cuts across multi-night stands. This film isn't a lucky break — the whole tour was built so it could happen.

Separately: 2112 was certified 4x platinum yesterday. It last hit 3x platinum in November 1995. That's thirty-one years to move another million copies of a fifty-year-old album.

Three nights left. If you're in one of those rooms, you're in a film.

That's Nikki Sixx's four-word answer to a fan who asked why Mötley Crüe don't play 100% live.

Worth being precise here, because most of the coverage today isn't. Sixx didn't deny using backing tracks — he confirmed them, and explained where the idea came from. Watching Queen run tape for the operatic section of "Bohemian Rhapsody," they realised they could add the things they physically can't reproduce onstage: orchestras, saxophones, that kind of thing. Queen have done exactly that since 1975, because four people can't sing 180 overdubs.

So there are two different accusations getting mashed together. Do the Crüe use tracks? Yes, confirmed, never really in dispute. Do the members actually play? That's the real fight.

John 5's answer to the clips where Nikki's hands look off the bass: he's fretting with one hand while the other arm is up. And the best argument anyone's made in four years of this — Nikki messes up onstage, and you can hear it.

A tape doesn't make mistakes.
