Today, September 11, 2026, JessTalk Speaking & Coaching Firm officially celebrates 25 YEARS! 🥂

What a ride.

JessTalk was born from an unexpected ending when Jesse Ferrell moved on from his dream job at Bellagio after a 36-year career in Las Vegas hospitality.

What looked like a door closing became the beginning of something neither of us could have imagined.

Over the past 25 years, we’ve:

*Coached and developed leaders, executives, and business owners
*Spoken to thousands of people and organizations
*Authored five books in our How You Leave Them Feeling collection
*Created tools, systems, processes and intellectual property that continue to impact lives and organizations
*Built extraordinary relationships with clients who became friends and friends who became family
*Built a business together as husband and wife…and somehow we still love each other!

But today isn’t really about what we’ve accomplished.

A heartfelt thank you to Stacy Watkins, Mindy Kermes, our amazing Relationship Manager, and the entire Lexicon Bank team for such a warm welcome and a fantastic Open House!

What started as a How You Leave Them Feeling® Book Club has grown into something truly special. Today, we’re honored to serve as Lexicon Bank’s company coaches, helping reinforce a culture built on connection, communication, leadership, and leaving people feeling valued.

As our family begins to navigate this new chapter without our sweet Midge Thomas Porter our hearts are overflowing, not only with grief, but with profound gratitude.

Thank you to every person who has prayed for us, sent a card, shared a memory, left a message, brought a meal, lit a candle, or simply held us close in your thoughts. Every act of kindness has reminded us that love truly is the greatest legacy we leave behind.

One of Mom’s greatest gifts to us was teaching us to celebrate life while we still have each other. We were blessed to honor her as “Queen for a Day” on her 90th birthday, surrounding her with laughter, stories, and love so she never had to wonder how deeply she was cherished.

Years ago, she gave me a poem that ended with the words, “Don’t cry at my grave… I won’t be there.” Today, I understand those words in a way I never could before. I see her in the gentle breeze, the butterflies, the feathers that seem to appear just when I need them, the blooming flowers, and the breathtaking sunsets. They remind me that love doesn’t end—it simply changes form.

Thank you for helping us celebrate an extraordinary woman whose kindness, grace, resilience, and unconditional love will continue to ripple through generations.

May we all honor her by loving each other a little more deeply, extending a little more grace, and leaving people feeling the way she always did, valued, seen, and loved.

One week ago today, Heaven welcomed my sweet mom, Midge Thomas Porter

I’ve shed my tears this week, but today I find myself smiling through them.

One of the greatest gifts our family ever gave Mom was celebrating her while she was still here. For her 90th birthday, we crowned her Queen for a Day, surrounded her with family and friends, shared stories, laughter, tears, and reminded her just how deeply she was loved. Because of that, she didn’t have to wonder what she meant to us—she heard it with her own ears and felt it with her own heart.

Ten years ago, on February 26, 2016, Mom handed me this poem. At the time, I simply thought it was beautiful. Now, it feels like she wrote it just for us.

Don’t cry at my grave because I won’t be there.

I’ll be in the breeze that ruffles your hair.

I’ll be in the sunshine, and I’ll be in the snow.

I’ll be in the places where we used to go.

I’ll be in your laughter and in the funny things.

I’ll be in your shadow and there in your dreams.

I’ll be in your greetings but not your good-byes.

I’ll be in the reflection of your loving eyes.

I’ll always be with you, and I’ll always care.

So don’t cry at my graveside… because I won’t be there.

Oh Mom…you were right.

Now I already see you in the butterflies, the feathers that seem to appear at just the right time, the gentle breeze on my morning walks, the flowers in bloom, and in every sunset that paints the sky with beauty.

You taught us kindness, resilience, grace, and unconditional love. Your greatest legacy isn’t just the life you lived—it is the love you left behind in each of us.

Thank you for being our sweet mom, our grandmother, our friend, our teacher, and our greatest cheerleader.

Until we meet again… I’ll keep looking for you in all the beautiful places.
