🚨 ANOTHER LAS VEGAS FAVORITE IS CLOSING 💔

After nearly 10 years at Town Square Las Vegas, Braud’s Funnel Cake Café has announced it is closing its brick-and-mortar location.

The locally loved dessert spot shared that the decision came after facing a combination of rising supply costs, rent, insurance, declining tourism and the challenges of operating during Las Vegas’ extreme summer heat.

Braud’s has been serving funnel cakes for 20 years, with nearly a decade of that spent at Town Square Las Vegas. Over the years, customers traveled from across Las Vegas — and even from out of town — for its over-the-top funnel cakes, fried desserts and sweet treats.

While the Town Square café chapter is ending, the Braud’s name isn’t completely disappearing. ❤️ The company says its funnel cake mix will continue to be sold online, and customers can join its email list for updates on what may come next.

The owners thanked Town Square Las Vegas and their longtime customers for supporting them through the years, including during the difficult COVID period.

🚨 LAS VEGAS HOTEL BOOKING CONFUSION: WOMAN SAYS THE HOTEL SHE RESERVED DIDN’T EXIST

A Las Vegas visitor says she arrived for her trip only to discover that the hotel she thought she booked online was not what she found in person.

According to FOX5 Las Vegas, Ariana Patino booked a stay through Booking.com at a property listed as the “Palette Hotel.” The online listing reportedly showed digital images associated with that property, but when Patino arrived at the location near Tropicana Avenue, she found the OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas instead.

Patino told FOX5 she asked about canceling the reservation because she believed the booking was misleading, but said she was told the reservation was still subject to the property’s cancellation policy.

The situation is another reminder for Las Vegas travelers to double-check a hotel’s official name, street address, recent guest reviews and current photos before booking through a third-party travel website—especially when a property may have changed names, branding or management.

💔 MISSING NEW YORK GRANDMOTHER ALISA GOODS FOUND DEAD IN LAS VEGAS

A search for 63-year-old Alisa Goods, who disappeared while visiting Las Vegas, has ended tragically after authorities confirmed she was found deceased near Harry Reid International Airport. (https://www.fox5vegas.com⁠)

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 1:45 a.m. Thursday after a woman was discovered in a drainage ditch near Wayne Newton Boulevard and the Terminal 1 parking garage. The woman was later identified as Goods. (https://www.fox5vegas.com⁠)

Police say airport surveillance video from August 8 showed Goods falling down an embankment, getting back up and later collapsing. Investigators said there was no further movement seen on the video, and the location where she fell was not visible from the street. (https://www.fox5vegas.com⁠)

Goods had traveled to Las Vegas for vacation. Her family had been searching for her, distributing flyers and asking the public for help after she failed to return home to New York. (https://www.fox5vegas.com⁠)

🚨 AWAKENING IS CLOSING AT WYNN LAS VEGAS

One of the biggest productions on the Las Vegas Strip is coming to an end. Awakening at Wynn Las Vegas is set to close in October, giving visitors only a limited amount of time left to see the elaborate stage, massive sets, aerial performers, special effects and the show’s signature giant phoenix.

The production debuted at Wynn in 2022 inside the custom-built Awakening Theater and became one of the resort’s major entertainment attractions.

✨ HAVE YOU DONE THIS LAS VEGAS TOURIST ATTRACTION YET?

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city and still one of the most popular photo stops for both first-time visitors and longtime locals.

Located on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, the iconic sign has been welcoming visitors since 1959 and has become one of the most photographed symbols of Las Vegas.

Whether you’re visiting Vegas for the first time, celebrating a birthday, anniversary, bachelor or bachelorette trip, or just want that classic Vegas photo, this is one of those stops everyone seems to do at least once.

The sign is free to visit, and there’s a small parking area nearby for visitors stopping for photos.

🚗 AREA15 PARKING SIGN HAS LOCALS CONFUSED — DO NEVADA RESIDENTS HAVE TO PAY?

If you’re a Las Vegas local pulling into AREA15, this sign could easily make you think everyone has to pay for parking.

The biggest words on the sign say “PAYMENT REQUIRED” with instructions to scan a QR code and pay. But underneath, in much smaller print, it says:

“Free for locals with NV license plate.”

That distinction is pretty important.

AREA15’s current parking setup includes paid parking for visitors who don’t qualify for the local exemption, while eligible Nevada locals can receive complimentary parking. AREA15’s own website also currently advertises “Free parking available,”* although additional conditions apply. (AREA15⁠)

The issue isn’t necessarily that locals are being charged — it’s the way the sign is presented. If you see “PAYMENT REQUIRED” first and immediately scan the QR code, you could easily start the payment process before noticing the much smaller message explaining that local parking is free.

For a city where businesses regularly promote locals discounts and perks, the exemption probably deserves to be a little more obvious.

A Las Vegas restaurant is speaking out in support of a rehabilitation program that has helped many of its employees get a second chance after incarceration.

Buldogis Eatery says most of its staff has come through Hope for Prisoners, a Las Vegas organization that helps former inmates transition back into the workforce and rebuild their lives.

The restaurant’s owners and employees are now hoping the program continues following the arrest of Hope for Prisoners CEO Jon Ponder, who was arrested this week on sexual assault and other charges. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have asked any additional potential victims to come forward.

Buldogis owner Boyzie Milner told FOX5 that employees who came through the program have been some of the restaurant’s strongest workers, saying they are grateful for the opportunity to rebuild their lives and careers.

Two Buldogis chefs, Denfield Wright and Kevin Searcy, also came through the program. Wright said that before receiving a second chance, employers were unwilling to give him an opportunity because of his past.

Despite the allegations against Ponder, the Hope for Prisoners Board of Directors says daily operations will continue without interruption and that the organization remains committed to helping people successfully reenter the workforce, strengthen their families and rebuild their lives.

Buldogis employees are encouraging other Las Vegas businesses to remain open-minded about hiring people who are working to transform their lives after incarceration.

🎸 HARD ROCK LAS VEGAS GUITAR TOWER IS NEARLY COVERED IN BLUE GLASS

The Las Vegas Strip skyline is getting closer to its newest massive landmark.

New drone footage captured August 20, 2026 shows the Hard Rock Las Vegas guitar-shaped hotel tower nearing completion of its signature blue glass exterior, with only a small section of the tower still exposed.

Construction on the transformation of the former Mirage property has been underway since 2024. The guitar tower is planned to rise about 660 feet and 42 stories, becoming one of the most recognizable structures on the Las Vegas Strip.

The new Hard Rock Las Vegas resort is also expected to include approximately 3,700 hotel rooms and suites, a 174,000-square-foot casino, a 5,000-seat Hard Rock Live venue, and a 2,000-seat West Theater.

One of the most dramatic features will be the guitar neck, designed with six beams of light shooting thousands of feet into the sky to resemble guitar strings.

The approximately $5 billion Hard Rock Las Vegas redevelopment is currently expected to open in late 2027.

From the closure of The Mirage to a nearly completed guitar-shaped tower, the transformation of this section of the Strip is becoming very real.
