🚖🤖 Could Tesla Robotaxis be coming to Las Vegas sooner than expected?

Tesla has applied for an Autonomous Vehicle Network Company permit with the Nevada Transportation Authority that would allow the company to operate a commercial fleet of up to 5,000 robotaxis throughout Clark County.

In recent weeks, gold-colored Tesla vehicles believed to be connected to the robotaxi program have been spotted around Southern Nevada. Tesla is also investing $3.1 million to retrofit a 37,000-square-foot facility in the southwest Las Vegas Valley that would support fleet operations with vehicle service bays and charging infrastructure.

According to permit filings, Tesla’s proposed service area would include locations across the Las Vegas Valley, including Harry Reid International Airport. Initial operations are expected to utilize modified Tesla Model Y vehicles while the company’s purpose-built Cybercab remains under development.

The Nevada Transportation Authority is currently reviewing Tesla’s application. No official launch date has been announced.

If approved, Las Vegas could become one of the largest markets for Tesla’s autonomous ride-hailing ambitions.

🎭 Looking for an affordable night out in Las Vegas?

Caesars Entertainment is offering select show tickets for just $50 during Caesars Show Week, running through June 29 at 10 p.m. The promotion includes performances from some of the biggest names in entertainment, along with family attractions, comedy shows, magic acts, concerts, and Las Vegas favorites across multiple Strip resorts.

Participating experiences include Kelly Clarkson, Donny Osmond, Wayne Newton, Mat Franco, BattleBots, the High Roller Observation Wheel, Fly LINQ Zipline, the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck, RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!, Laugh Factory, and more. Some attractions are even offering two tickets for $50.

🚨 West Nile Virus Detected in Las Vegas Mosquitoes

Health officials have identified the first group of mosquitoes in Las Vegas to test positive for West Nile virus this year. The infected mosquito samples were collected in the 89121 ZIP code in the east Las Vegas Valley as part of the Southern Nevada Health District’s ongoing mosquito surveillance program.

West Nile virus is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. While many people experience no symptoms, some may develop fever, headache, body aches, fatigue, nausea, or rash. In rare cases, the virus can lead to serious neurological illness affecting the brain or nervous system.

To help reduce your risk:
✔️ Remove standing water around your home, including buckets, flowerpot saucers, toys, and birdbaths.
✔️ Use EPA-registered insect repellent when spending time outdoors.
✔️ Wear long sleeves and pants during peak mosquito activity.
✔️ Make sure window and door screens are in good condition.

The Southern Nevada Health District continues to monitor mosquito activity throughout Clark County and encourages residents to take precautions during mosquito season.

🏗️ A new look is continuing to rise on the Las Vegas Strip.

Construction is making noticeable progress on the future luxury tower being built next to The Venetian Resort. The striking blue-glass structure, designed with a curved façade, is steadily climbing higher as multiple cranes remain active on-site. The project will add another modern landmark to the ever-changing skyline surrounding the Venetian and Palazzo resorts.

Visible from the pedestrian bridges along Las Vegas Boulevard, the tower has become one of the most recognizable construction projects currently taking shape on the Strip. As work continues, visitors can already see the unique architecture beginning to stand out among the surrounding resorts.

Las Vegas is constantly reinventing itself, and this latest addition is another reminder that the skyline never stays the same for long.

🎈 Scary Moments Near Pahrump: Hot Air Balloon Ride Ends in Hard Landing, Multiple Injuries

What started as a bucket-list experience for a Mississippi family visiting Las Vegas turned frightening Thursday morning when a hot air balloon made a hard landing in the Stewart Valley dry lake bed west of Pahrump.

According to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, there were 10 people on board when the balloon touched down, bounced back into the air, and tipped onto its side. Several passengers suffered injuries, including second and third-degree burns and blunt force trauma.

Passenger Brant Kairit said the 45-minute flight had been “beautiful” until the final seconds. He described the basket flipping onto its side and a fire breaking out after impact. His wife suffered multiple broken bones and was transported from Desert View Hospital to UMC in Las Vegas, where she is expected to undergo surgery.

Because of the remote location and lack of cell service, passengers reportedly had difficulty calling for help and used text-to-911 before driving themselves to seek medical attention.

Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue responded to the area, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident. Additional details are expected to be released.

Vegas Balloon Rides had not responded to requests for comment.
