A lithium battery fire at a Boulder City solar site continued to smolder Thursday, two days after the initial response.

12:30 a.m. update from Boulder City Fire Department:
“The fire is in a smoldering phase and has been turned over to the company reps. They will notify us if anything flares up or there are concerns. We are clearing the area at this time.”

9:20pm Update: The fire is still burning and will continue over the next 4 to 6 hours. BC Firefighters are continuing to apply water to surrounding units. Please continue to avoid the area.

At about 7 PM, a fire at Townsite solar was reported south of the I-11 near US-95. Boulder City Fire Department is on the scene, and Henderson Fire Department is providing mutual aid.

For your safety & the safety of our firefighters, please avoid the area until further notice.

BCR WINS SEVEN STATE AWARDS
At the annual Nevada Press Association convention and awards Saturday night in Fallon, the Boulder City Review brought home seven awards in a variety of categories.
There are two contest divisions within the state, urban, which is mostly daily publications, and rural, made up of weeklies, such as the Review.
The BCR awards included:
Local Column: Bill Evans, first place.
Profile: Ron Eland, first place, for his feature on sex-trafficked survivor Annika Huff.
Sports Feature Writing: Ron Eland, first place, on his feature of ultra-marathon runner Tyler Nash.
Profile: Ron Eland, second place, for his feature on longtime Boulder City resident Sara Denton.
Multi-Photo Essay or Gallery: Ron Eland, second place, for his coverage of the 2024 July 4 Damboree.
Government Watchdog/Accountability Reporting: Bill Evans, third place for his coverage of the leash laws within the city.
Education Reporting: Ron Eland, third place, for his article on the fact that last school year, 30% of BCHS’s enrollment came from out of town.
