Jim Morrison, the charismatic and controversial frontman of The Doors, is remembered not only for his legendary musical career but also for his deep passion for poetry and literature. Morrison considered himself a poet first, and only secondarily a singer. He published several collections of poetry, and his song lyrics were often rich with literary and philosophical references.

His enigmatic persona was further amplified by his untimely death in Paris at the age of 27, under circumstances that remain unclear to this day. This tragic event contributed to his lasting image as a "cursed" rock icon and secured his place in the infamous "27 Club" alongside other artists who died at the same age.

Before forming The Doors, Morrison studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he met Ray Manzarek, who would become the band's keyboardist. Despite his bohemian lifestyle, Morrison was an avid reader with a vast cultural knowledge, qualities that deeply influenced the complexity and depth of his songwriting, elevating his work far beyond typical rock music.
