Sunshine and Smiles returning to Saratoga! The 2020 Discover Saratoga Destination Guide is your one stop information source to the Who, What, Where, When and WOW in and around the Region.
Let me first say I apologize for the lack of posting on this page over the last week or two, I have been working tirelessly on several major issues that have simply not left enough time in the day to be posting enough. I know how vital good communication is with the public however and especially in these critical next months will make sure to do better in keeping you informed
With that in mind, below is an update on where we are right now with our COVID-19 response and Re-Open Plan for the City.
As I said earlier, there is a lot going right now in our city and in the world, and it's hard not to be overwhelmed with the negativity of it all, from cancellations to budget cuts, closed businesses, and outbreaks.
But the The City of Saratoga Springs, NY has always been the exception to the rule and been the shining star of upstate New York when there was no light to be found. If there is any city that can weather a storm like the one we are in, it is this one.
Please take confidence in knowing that your Saratoga Springs Police Department & Saratoga Springs Fire Department and the entire Public Safety team are here by your side to navigate these upcoming challenges together and move past this crisis.

1) Update on COVID-19 Response / The City Covid-19 Task Force:
I have convened a City COVID-19 Task Force that is specifically assigned with implementing the Governor's New York Forward plan and regional guidelines to open New York. This team has been working non-stop to make sure we are as ready and as prepared as possible to open our businesses at the first possible moment we are able to move forward. For the overall New York Forward Plan and steps it entails click here >> :https://www.governor.ny.gov/programs/new-york-forward
2) **VERY IMPORTANT** Meeting the CDC Guidelines so we can get approval to open regionally - - we cannot open for business on May 15 just because NY State on PAUSE has been lifted, we can only begin Phase 1 by meeting the CDC specified guidelines for the Capital District Region. Click here to see where our region stands right now and what guidelines we have or have not met >> https://www.governor.ny.gov/programs/new-york-forward
3) ***Business Protection: this is the next item that must be complete before Phase 1 in Saratoga Springs begins: Each business and industry must protect employees and consumers, make the physical workspace safer and implement processes that lower risk of infection in the business. **The City's COVID-19 Task Force is putting together the information and resources that will be needed by businesses to successfully do this. We’re here to help. We anticipate sharing this resource with area businesses ASAP.”
4) When the above criteria is met and NY State on PAUSE is lifted (expected date of May 15), priority business openings will be rolled out in phases, with a minimum of two weeks between each phase to assess the regional health impact. This is the schedule of openings:
Manufacturing and wholesale supply chain
Select retail using curbside pickup only
Finance and insurance
Real estate and rental leasing
Restaurants and foodservice
Hotels and accommodations
Arts, entertainment and recreation
