If nail trims always turn into a wrestling match, the problem may be everything leading up to the clippers. ✂️🐈
A few small changes can make the whole process feel less stressful 👇
🐾 Practice paw handling when you’re NOT trimming. Gently touch and massage their paws during calm moments so paw contact doesn’t always predict clippers.
😴 You don’t have to finish every nail at once. A couple of nails during a sleepy, relaxed moment can be way easier than forcing a full session.
🍗 Make the experience worth it. High-value treats, lickable snacks, or a favorite reward can help create a more positive association with nail trimming.
The goal isn’t speed. It’s helping your cat stay calm enough that nail trims become more manageable over time ✅
And if you’re unsure where to trim or how to hold the paw safely, ask your vet or groomer to show you in person.
