I meant to post these pics last Wednesday night after my flights from my Mississippi home back to Oregon for work.

I didn’t take any pics during the first leg because it was fully daylight and just kind of meh. Also, I wanted to sleep that flight away, since I’d not gone to bed at all the night before my travel day (got all the laundry done though 😉).

Sometimes flying is stressful. Sometimes it’s boring. Usually I sleep every bit of both flights. And sometimes it’s seeing beauty, and feeling peaceful just moving through it all as I go from one place to the other.

It’s now Monday at 1:15am, as I sit here creating this post while on my lunch break.
So happy Monday.

I’m in Oregon for another 3 week run. The nights are long sometimes in the ICU. The sleepless days due to untreated perimenopause (I’m soon to be getting on HRT) are extremely frustrating. Not seeing my family in person for so long is sad and lonesome. But then there’s beauty like this to see (my first break) and it lightens my heart a bit ♥️

So enjoy our gorgeous sunset behind the Downs (horse racing track).

As is typical, it’s even more pretty in person and I do NOT use filters on my pics to enhance the saturation of color (typically I’ll only alter a pic to black & white)

ETA: Adventure over. It’s not legal for me to sell these without them being made in a licensed commercial kitchen. Not happening. But guess what?? I’m totally going to keep making them for my own family to consume in my own home.
I’m glad I didn’t order en electric peeler 🤣🤦‍♀️.
Oregon is MUCH more lenient and just requires specific wording on the labeling 🤨

I’d love to keep it, but idk how to preserve the egg intact.

We have an additional 10 chicken eggs and 3 quail eggs from this morning (not pictured), for a total of 22 chicken eggs and 22 quail eggs ♥️

*this picture was taken outside at approx 7:15pm CST, outside in my backyard right after collecting them, using my husband’s iPhone 17. This picture has been cropped but otherwise unaltered and absolutely no filter was used. That truly is a purple bloom quail egg. In the lower light of the quail coop I thought it was grey, and was nearly as amazed as when I took it outside and discovered it was actually purple.

Thieves suck.

Last Friday I went to get my hair cut. Same salon I’ve been going to for maybe a year. Kind of an isolated business, seemingly decent area, not exactly well travelled, and wide open space visually.
So imagine my surprise when I walk out to my car and see that my license plate is missing 😮
Just the rear plate.
I haven’t been anywhere but home since leaving a meeting at the hospital the day before. My license plate was definitely there when I left. My vehicle is black and the license plate is a very pale blue, so I notice it.
So I called the non-emergency PD line, reported the stolen plate, and spent the next 6 days hyper vigilant for the impending traffic stop for having no plate, report number at the ready when they run my front plate and it comes back as stolen 🤦‍♀️🤣

Today I had my appointment at the DMV (yup, appointments only here in GP Oregon). I was in and out in 20min with new plates, tags, and registration 🎉

Next stop: AutoZone

Adrian at AutoZone was awesome. I told him the bolts were missing and he grabbed some replacements and a screw driver. We had some in and out at the store a couple of times before we had what we needed, because it turns out that whoever stole my plate actually drilled it out of the tailgate leaving much larger holes than it had had previously.

So now I’m $50 lighter (much cheaper plates and hardware than I expected) and can drive in peace knowing I’m not missing plates that will get me pulled over.

Again, THIEVES SUCK

What is it about test anxiety?

The online module for it said 2-4hrs.
Ya, you can complete it in 2hrs if you click through the entire thing and only answer questions.
Me? Nooooo…I made myself watch the entire thing and it took me probably 6-7hrs because I was dumb and did it while on shift.
I was repeatedly called away from the computer (that pesky on shift part) and every time I came back to it the mind numbing-ness of it kicked back in.
It was an exhausting shift.

I think we should get some kind of credit for each time over the previous 2 years we’ve ran a code or participated in one of the ACLS scenarios, but in real life. Real life experience will top “book learning” every day.

You can bet I’ve participated in the codes in real life hundreds of times (maybe thousands over the last 26 years?) more often than the surgery center plastic surgeon I had the class with several years ago 🤣. Shouldn’t I get some OJT credit for that?

So off I go.
I’ll be home (Oregon home) just in time to put the chickens up for the night and collect eggs before dark. I’m housesitting for my housemate while she’s on vacation for 10d, so I get to play chicken mom 🥰

*Im being facetious. I know the importance of recertification of ACLS (and BLS, which I did 3wks ago). I’ve got NIHSS recert coming up in September (talk about long, mind numbing online modules 🙄🤦‍♀️)

Mr. French Chicks is going to have my head 🤣

I participated in a fundraiser and will be gifted eggs, sourdough bread, and fig preserves from the very generous folks at AnA Farms, LLC.

Look at these gorgeous eggs 😍

I’ve never considered having breeding pens, but with all I’ve got mixing it up in my flock, I might just have to separate some out and see what they give me.

We’ve had a coop waiting to be put together for longer than I care to admit, so we’d better get on it quick!

The first 3 (of 6 hatched over the last several weeks) turkey poults are ready to go to the outside brooder area in our main coop, and the 16 chicks they hatched with are soon to follow. Thankfully we’ve still got several weeks of growing and feathering out before the other 3 turkey poults and 7 chicks will be ready for the outside brooder.

Chicken math is REAL y’all. So is turkey math. So is quail math 🤣

Did y’all see my post seeking guinea eggs? There won’t be math there. They’re too loud to have many. They have absolutely beautiful feathers, but I’m wanting them for tick and red ant control, not for their eggs or meat, which is the purpose for most of the other birds (extraneous males go to Camp Kenmore).
Please let me know if you have a source for fertilized guinea eggs 🙏🏻😉
