Yesterday I couldn’t help but think of a recent post by Sister Amy A. Wright (in the Primary General Presidency). When her husband served as a stake president he encouraged bishops to attend Primary telling them, “This mantle is heavy, and there will be times when it feels especially heavy. On those days, run to the Primary!…Primary is where you will go to heal.” Greg has always loved sitting with the Sunbeams. It helps me understand a little better why. The children are his fill! ❤️ Its makes me ask myself, do I consider my time in Primary a chance to heal, too?

You know when morning family prayer includes..."please bless nothing to break, no accidents to happen and that no one will get shot"...it's been a long week. 🤣😔 Consistent with our bad luck a faucet broke yesterday and we've been without water until now. I'm afraid counting our little trials has been catching and the kids are doing it too! Grateful for family who have (after totally validating the hard) encouraged me to find the silver linings...and they are there! A brief call today from Nathan that the eye doctor says his vision is (miraculously) back to 20/20. A car incident where there should have been damage, but we've been able to find none. A kind repairman today who not only solved our problem...and then some...but who took a minute to comment on the Spirit he could feel in our home.

President Nelson's New Year's social media post repeatedly encouraged us "marvel and rejoice" at the goodness of God ... which feels like a higher and holier version of "Give Thanks" to me. Hoping to move forward with a willingness to find reasons to "Marvel and Rejoice" even and especially when life is hard. ❤

Is it too early/too late for a 2024 do-over?! 😂 We were heading home from Christmas activities in Logan last week when we found out a beloved pet in our extended family had passed away and later that day held the memorial and burial in our yard. Highlights since then include a small car incident, lost wallet, and our missionary (shot in the eye with a toy gun) has spent the night in the hospital with real concern for his eyesight. I was driving by myself one night feeling overwhelmed (by reportable concerns and those that just sit on a mother’s heart) and started crying and praying out loud. As I pulled into our driveway a melody came into my mind and then words from a hymn. I had to look up on my phone to find which one it was because the phrase that kept repeating in my mind was from an obscure third verse. But, I know that Heavenly Father had planted in my mind a message that has (though not solved all my problems) helped me feel peace ever since.

I’ve actually been studying hymns recently to find little golden nuggets and had created two sets before this experience. It was sweet that God would know that a hymn was a way I’d be ready to receive His peace in my heart.

There are two sets I’ve made posted on Etsy. One is a set of hymn phrases from Sacrament Songs and a question to help make “pondering” meaningful.

Another is a set of hymn phrases that can give hope and encouragement to you or someone you love!

Whether you look at these or do your own hymn phrase searching, I know that hymns contain inspired lyrics that, like scriptures, can help God speak directly to your heart!

I’ve considered lots of ways to share Bite-Size Faith, including making and selling clippy plank boards with cards. 😂 But at least for now I want to focus on sharing ideas, not physical products. Cards are easy to make on your own! For holding cards you can make your own planks (clips from Hobby Lobby), search “place card holders” on Amazon (2nd two images) and/or clothespins and twine. I do want to make available some downloadable printables to make it easy. After trying many avenues to offer free downloads, I’ve decided sharing on Etsy and charging minimally is my best way to share in a place that can be found over time and by a broader group of people. Please feel no obligation to purchase! Getting rich quick is not my motivation! 😂❤️ Feeling in it with others in faith-building is. For years home made plank boards with clips have been in the background of many family photos and of our lives. Little 4x4 inch squares have helped us to set goals, create art and integrate faith-building into our family one little bite at a time. I’ve been feeling nudged to share more deliberately ways we’ve done/are doing that and wanted to create a place for that specifically. I’m excited you’ve found “Bite-Size Faith”!
