Wednesday Words- Midweek Reflections in the Journey of Making His Words at Home in Our Hearts!

At the end of 2024, I was inspired by a sermon from my Pastor, from Colossians 3. In verse 16 it says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly.” To me it meant, spending time reading the Bible, studying and giving it space in my heart and mind. To make it at home in my heart, so to say.

So, starting off at the New Year, I decided to create a Challenge to handwrite Bible Verses daily, with a theme for the month, and then invited others to join me in the journey! Reading the verse for the day, including the verses surrounding it to understand some context, and then slowing down while handwriting the verse, is a great start at allowing God’s words to make their way into our thoughts and heart.

This month’s theme is “Let Us” and what I love about this focus is, the verses come from a posture of joining together, and encouraging others to come along to do something. And, not in a finger-pointing kind of message, but with a “let’s do this together” kind of invitation, to journey together, in community.

In just the first week of August, our verses encouraged….
Let us….
…Love one another; Sing for JOY to the Lord; Shout aloud to the Rock of our Salvation; Come before Him in Thanksgiving; Examine our ways; Return to the Lord; Lift up our hearts and hands admitting our sin; Be Careful that none be found to have fallen short; Put Aside the deeds of darkness and Put On the armor of light…

This is a recent design that I made from Romans 5:8, and it also happens to have been included in my handwriting Bible Verses challenge this month, “HIS Words at HOME in my HEART”. I made this button pin for my mom in my high school art class, and she would wear it every year for Mother's Day. This is the last time she wore it...we didn't know it would be her last Mother's day! Since she passed away, I now have it and wear it on Mother's day!

Hello everyone!!
Can you believe MAY is here? Wasn't it just New Year's?
Well, with this being the 1st, that means my NEW List of Bible Verses to handwrite is NOW available! If you haven't heard about this before, it started as a way to spend more intentional time in God's Word, & handwriting Bible Verses can help us remember them better, because when we slow down & concentrate on carefully writing the words, it helps our brains remember what we've written out!
I have called this, “HIS Words at HOME in my HEART” and I am inviting you to journey along!

A couple suggestions:
*Write your verses in a journal, notebook or on index cards. You can write the verses fancy and use color, or just write it out normally!
*Begin by reading in the Bible, not only the verse, but some of the surrounding verses, the paragraph, or Chapter, in order to understand the context of what is written.
*And, I also encourage praying & asking God to give you understanding and wisdom as you read too!!
*I select a “focus or word” for each month, and for MAY, our focus will be, 'But GOD'!

This Bible Verse was a recent one in my Handwriting God’s Word challenge, “HIS Words at HOME in my HEART” where we write out verses for the month in a journal, notebook or on notecards, so that we can “Let the words of Christ dwell in you richly”, as Colossians 3:16 encourages!
This month, the Theme is REDEMPTION/Redeemer! I decided to illustrate this verse, from Job 19:25, and share this fun Time-lapsed video with you!
