🚨 SCAM ALERT – Jury Duty Phone Scam 🚨

League City residents, please be aware of a phone scam that has recently increased in our area. Scammers are impersonating law enforcement officers (specifically claiming to be Galveston County Sheriff's Deputies) and telling victims they’ve missed jury duty and now have a warrant for their arrest.

Victims are then pressured to pay $9,000–$9,500 using Bitcoin machines at gas stations or similar methods. The scammers attempt to keep victims on the phone the entire time and threaten additional charges if victims speak to anyone about what’s happening.

⚠️ Important Reminders:
Law enforcement will never call you demanding payment over the phone.
We will never require payment through Bitcoin or gift cards.

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report it to the League City Police Department or your local police department for those outside of League City.

👉 Please share this post with friends and family, especially those who may be more vulnerable to these scams. Together, we can help protect our community. Stay safe, League City!
