Here's the video from our exploration of the Lava Lake area a few weeks back. We ran into several dead ends with some fun obstacles. In the end we ended up finding some epic views of nearby mountains and was a great day out exploring!

We started out at the Lava Lake Sno-Park on the Santiam Pass. Just a nice day trip to get away. The main road is paved for quite a while. So we took some ...

A few weeks back, we checked off a bucket list hike... God's Thumb on the Oregon Coast. A very popular hike, we were able to hit it early season and a week day when the crowds were light. Still a good number of people there... but could have been way worse... We couldn't have asked for better weather. Going into the trip we were threatened with rain and bad weather... it missed thankfully and the sun gave way just when we needed it to. The clouds rolled in the next day.

It's been a bucket list hike for the wife for several years now. So on a whim for a belated 12th wedding anniversary I planned a surprise trip to the hike, ...

Another great day on the trail! No super awesome views. But some good ones. Took a route from one highway to another. Thru routes are some of our favorites.

Ended the day running into a rig that had a flat tire and were struggling to get the spare as they had no experience with their rig. We were able to assist and make changing the tire faster with the impact we always carry.

Good to have at least some familiarity with where and how the tools for your vehicle work. They were within cell service and could have called for help if needed. But being able to get them gojng was nice. They can get home and fix it better from there.

Trail video coming soon.

Another great trip with Allan and Liam exploring central Oregon around the Metolius area. Weather and trail conditions were great for spring time. We can’t wait to go back and explore some more.

April 2025, and Alland and I went for a drive for the day to explore some of the Metolius River Area. Both of us have explored portions of this before but n...

Spring is here and it won’t be long till we can get in longer adventures or actually get over the backroad passes. Half day exploration. We found some neat spots. And some possible camp spots.

Can’t wait for more snow melt and sole overnight and overland trips!

A half day spring trip exploring the areas of Soda Fork Road, FS 2043 and FS 2041. We'd be blocked by snow almost able to make it over the highest points. ...

Today we completed another 2 mile section of river exploration. We have 2 sections remaining estimated at 4-6 miles total. One has a waterfall to down climb or rappel. But both will be difficult to get before the end of the season with weather, fires, and area closures for the season. Well. 2024 seems like a good time to finish it. 4 years in the making is a nice round number.

Over 3 years in the making... a project we started in September 2020... is finally nearing completion. We expect to be completed the next year or two. It's been a long journey and a lot still ahead of creating videos... we expect to have a series of 4-12 videos to cover all of the sections (some videos will contain one section or river, and some will contain multiple)

More work in the video project/s. This is a large project years in the making. I estimate it will be 5-8 seperste videos by the time it is done. And intend to release them once they are completed. One at a time.

When visiting Cape Meares in July of 2023, we experienced a fun weather where it was foggy and windy. When you were under trees you were getting rained on and wet, but in open air you wouldn't. Conditions were just right that the moisture was condensing on the trees needles and falling as a light rain under the trees... however in open air it was just windy and foggy.

Conditions were approx 55-60% Humidity, and around 65 degrees F air temp, with winds 8-15mph estimated with gusts in the 20-25mph estimated range.

It was a neat phenomenon we wanted to share.

Today we completed another 3.6+ miles of hiking the south Santiam river. Who would have thought that approximately 3 years ago we would start such a journey. To hike and document such a stretch of river from headwaters to reservoir. There is much more to this river for sure. But from the first reservoir it’s all boat and float. Which tho we’ve done parts. It’s not what we want to be doing.

By our calculations we have 2-3 segments totaling ~7mi. We’re over the halfway mark for sure. But really only 2-3 more to go. One segment is not visible from any roads. So that will be fun and includes 1-2 waterfalls. One of which we will likely have to rappel.
