Hello everyone, keeping you updated on what The Albany American Legion Post 10 has been doing. This morning we delivered 17 bags of eggs for the staff and volunteers of the VA Home in Lebanon to show our appreciation to them for what they are doing for our veterans. At our base we are running a food pantry for veterans and their families to help them with non perishable groceries and we have the wood fire pizza company in the parking lot to make it easy for take out pizza. Monday we will be delivering to the VA Home in Lebanon much needed masks that our sewers have been working on non stop. We are limited but will do everything we can for all veterans. Respectfully on behalf of Post 10 David Solomon Commander Post 10
I have been paying very close attention and I have not seen anything about what the City is planning to do or is doing for our homeless population. I have asked the Mayor and have not received any answer. Like it or not these people ARE a part of our community and need to be protected from this as much as everyone else.
On Friday I received a phone call from the VA Home in Lebanon requesting assistance with food for the staff at the home. She said the kitchens had been sh*t down for them and they were basically living there with no food. She stated she had a couple of business going to help on a couple of days. I told her I would get back to her. I called Chris the owner of Southpaws pizza and explained what was going on. Without any hesitation he said how many people and I told him 120 day time and 30 night. He said he would have all the food ready on Sunday and again Monday. I called back the home and gave them the news that Post 10 and Southpaws will comply. So Sunday along with the wife we went to Southpaws and picked up pizza and salads and delivered them to the VA Home in Lebanon. The Regional Manager Shawn Vatcoskay was so helpful to have everything ready for us and we will do it all over tomorrow with pastas for all. Chris is a retired Marine Colonel and owner of Southpaws. Post 10 is about helping all veterans and the community. This was a team that did it together. We would love other organizations to please help they need food badly. David Solomon Commander Post 10 The American Legion
