erd purchases the home, freeing up the funds for immediate use to afford seniors’ long-term care. But it doesn’t stop there. The seniors we work with matter to us; and so do their families! To ensure they are taken care of, we focus on understanding their needs and surround them with local, trusted resources to support every need they have along the way.

Family Shepherd brings holiday music to Seniors in Kansas City each year, Lee's Summit-based Family Shepherd and Bridge Space sponsors a holiday concert to bring a little holiday cheer to seniors living at home or in senior living. The Lee's Summit Jazz Orchestra, with the help of sponsors,host a holiday to our concert in December on the stage at Bridge Space, Eastern Jackson County's largest business incubator and coworking space (BridgeSpace.us ). Family Shepherd helps to promote the LSJO throughout the year but takes a step further by streaming the concert live to the YouTube channel so seniors can enjoy the concert live or replay the concert anytime to offer a little Christmas cheer to seniors. It's a thoughtful opportunity for activities directors to provide some live local music, which can be played in the activity center of any Senior Living Care community. Just finished rehabbing this little house in Blue Springs; it really turned out great. Most times, the house rehab was easier than the logistics and the family's other challenges. The house was owned partially by trust and partially by another family member. If you have a family member transitioning to senior living or a loved one who needs to sell their home, we make life easy for everybody. We are Kansas City's leading expert in real estate and helping families that have a loved one transitioning into senior living. As the holidays approach, we know that families will be spending more time with their loved ones. As we all know, this is often when family members and friends notice that a loved one's safety or physical and cognitive abilities may be declining. Many times, this starts a family conversation about whether it's time to consider some level of care, whether it be In-home or Residential Senior Living for their parent or loved one.

We have an expansive network of trusted resources that we are happy to introduce families to at no cost to the family. These resources may include helping to choose the right Care Community, legal planning, In-Home Care, downsizing and moving services, or another handful of services that we know families need. We don't provide these services, but we do have a large network of people that we know, like, and trust and are happy to share those with anyone who needs resources.

As you hear about families starting this journey, please keep Family Shpeherd in mind as a resource that can help the family with the house and reduce their stress around that too. We can purchase the house in any condition, and many don’t realize that we can also buy the house and let the homeowner stay in the house, which is often a good option. This is often preferred when one spouse is moving to care, and the other wants to stay home. It’s a good option to take care of at the onset, removing the hurdle of worrying about selling the house when it’s time for mom or dad to transition from home to Senior Living.

Our feelings towards real estate agents. The real truth!

At Family Shepherd, we work with hundreds of families looking to sell their homes in Kansas City. We are not real estate agents or brokers; we are real estate investors, which means we usually pay cash for a property and close it in a few weeks. The real estate broker and agent circles are pretty surprised by how honest and open we are about our feelings toward real estate agents and their value. This was definitely one of my more satisfying projects. Not only did we buy and Rehab this house, but we were also able to bring back the senior (Bonnie) and her family to see the completed project. Seeing the smile on her face was more satisfying than completing the project. 2230 W 79th Street, Prarie Village, is on the MLS. I love my job!!!

📣 **Support Jackson County Senior Services Fund!** 📣

We need your help ensuring Jackson County Ordinance No. 5876 gets on the November ballot! This ordinance proposes creating a Senior Services fund through a small property tax of five cents per $100 of assessed value. The funds will support crucial services for older adults, like home-delivered meals, senior centers, social activities, home safety repairs, transportation, and other supports for daily living.

🗓 What You Can Do:

1. Attend the Meeting:** The Jackson County Legislature will be discussing this measure on **Monday, August 26, at 2:00 pm**. It’s crucial that this measure passes on Monday to make the November 5th, 2024 ballot. Your presence can make a big difference!
