In 2025, Fogerty has continued this momentum with a series of high-profile appearances, including a keynote speech at SXSW, induction by Bruce Springsteen at the American Music Honors for his influence on American music, and fiery headline sets at JazzFest, Glastonbury, and the Hollywood Bowl. He collaborated with Eric Church on a new version of his classic song, “Up Around The Bend,” and worked with the German electronic duo, The Outliers for a new version of “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.” All this in the year which also sees him celebrating his 80th birthday. This milestone is being marked with the release of Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years, an album which includes newly re-recorded renditions of 20 of Fogerty’s most beloved songs with his sons, Shane and Tyler Fogerty.

Today is National Radio Day! Turn up the volume – today celebrates a great invention and communications medium! The invention of the radio dates back to the late 1800s. A number of inventors played a role in creating this important medium. A number of inventions and discoveries were required to make the radio a reality.

This included both transmission and reception methods and technology. The radio somewhat evolved from the telegraph and the telephone, with wireless telegraph directly contributing to its invention.

Why today? To celebrate the day the first news radio station, 8MK radio in Detroit was licensed by the FCC and went on the air in 1920. Celebrating National Radio Day is easy: listening. Simply tune into your favorite radio stations(s). You know, you could also give your local radio personalities a little recognition!

A stuntman who most famously stood in as a human torch for the cover of one of Pink Floyd’s best-loved albums—1975’s “Wish You Were Here”—has died at age 88.

Ronnie Rondell Jr. enjoyed a storied career as a Hollywood stuntman, appearing in well-known film and TV productions, including “Thelma and Louise”, “Lethal Weapon,” and “Star Trek: First Contact”. The photographer behind the iconic Pink Floyd cover, Aubrey Powell, once told reporters Rondell had initially been reluctant about the gig, believing the stunt to be more dangerous than his average action movie scenes.

Toward the end of his career, he also found work coordinating other stunt performers for films like “The Mighty Ducks” and “Batman and Robin”.

Tomorrow [August 16th] is Bratwurst Day! So much more than a hot dog, bratwurst [[BRAH-werst]] is a heavily spiced sausage, usually enjoyed on a roll with mustard or by itself with a side of sauerkraut. The term “bratwurst” is a compound of two German words—“braten,” which means “to fry” and “wurst,” which means “sausage.”

It's aslo National Rum Day! Rum is a distilled clear alcoholic beverage, which is a byproduct of molasses production or made directly from sugar cane juice. After the fermentation and distillation process, most rum is aged in wooden oak barrels.

Pamela Anderson is partnering with L.A. lifestyle company Flamingo Estate to create “Pamela’s Pickles,” with all proceeds going to the California Wildlife Center, a nonprofit that rescues, rehabilitates, and releases native wild animals along the California coast. The recipe for the pickles comes from Anderson’s great-aunt, who was known for her award-winning pickling and canning skills.

The pickles offer a spicier variation on her great-aunt’s original recipe and feature all organic ingredients, with each limited-release jar priced at $38. Anderson says the project is both a culinary venture and a way to honor her family’s traditions while supporting a cause close to her heart.

The actress shares that she and her sons have volunteered at the California Wildlife Center for years, often spending Mother’s Day helping clean bird cages. They’ve also raised funds for the organization through lemonade stands. She believes that protecting wildlife is important and the pickle project is a meaningful way to contribute to the center’s mission.

It seems that there’s no such thing as a Chuck E. Cheese story that isn’t somehow negative. Late last week, firefighters were called to a location in Burbank, California. When they arrived on the scene, they found that a woman had managed to get stuck inside one of the restaurant’s games. It’s called Snow Day, and it’s where a player enters a clear tube and places balls for points and tickets. Reportedly, the woman “placed her arm into a hole not intended for body parts.”

Petunia, a 2-year-old hairless French Bulldog mix that looks a bit like a gremlin, was deemed The “World’s Ugliest Dog” and took home a $5,000 prize.

Her owner, Shannon Nyman of Eugene, Oregon, called Petunia a “world-class snuggler.” She also told the judges that Petunia has a daily coconut oil and sunscreen skin routine to protect her hairless body.

In addition to the cash prize, Petunia will also soon have limited-edition merchandise, sponsored by MUG Root Beer.
