For the month of May, we have chosen Tobias-West Structural Engineers. (Maybe we should have saved Mays Roofing for this month.) Tobias-West has two locations in South Carolina, Lexington and Charleston. They have been providing structural engineering services for commercial, industrial, and high-end residential clients since 2003.

Tobias-West has trusted us with designing their exterior signage and drastically updating their website. Their website, in particular, was shopped around to various agencies around the state. Owner Stephen West liked the way we operate as well as our pricing structure. Please find them on the web and give them a call whenever you require the services of an engineer. www.tobiaswest.com https://www.facebook.com/tobiaswestengineers/ #customerofthemonth

As a new feature, we will be choosing a customer of the month to display here to help give our followers a glimpse into what we do here at Hill Company.

Our first Customer of the Month is Mays Contracting. They have been doing roofing and other contracting work in and around the Columbia SC area for over 40 years. They have trusted us with designing their website, wrapping their vehicles, designing their business cards, and managing their Google Ads campaigns. Please find them on the web and give them a call for all of your roofing and contracting needs! www.mayscontracting.com #customerofthemonth

For the past few months, I've been getting weekly e-newsletters from different grocery stores reminding me they are there and to let me know what specials they each have going on. Here is a screenshot of two of them side by side. The one on the left (IGA) looks like this every single week. The graphics and text never change. The one on the right (Lidl) changes weekly, is 4-times as long as what you see here, and is always this bright and colorful. Some can argue that IGA is a solid brand and has been around for decades. Additionally, they are strategically located where they can get a decent amount of drive-by traffic. Their prices are always competitive, and they have a satisfying variety of inventory to choose from. From a marketing perspective, between these two brands, I see Sears vs Amazon. Seasoned and comfortable versus new, cutting edge, and nothing to lose. IGA needs to step up their game or else they too may end up on the chopping block.

#QOTD #Brand building doesn't give you short-term return, it yields a long-term return. Short-term focus brings a knee-jerk #ROI. #SMB101

Teymour Bourial's answer: What would you do if your local supermarket sent your 17 years old daughter a bunch of deals to buy pregnancy-related products? Most likely, the answer is “get mad at this ill-mannered company trying to get your teen pregnant”. That’s exactly what happened in the US, i...

"The company’s lenders decided to reverse the order after speaking to controlling parties and deciding the brand was too valuable to give up." Big banks have so much power when it comes to keeping the doors open for businesses, yet they know so little about who they are lending to. In a former life, I was the national sales and marketing rep for a manufacturing company that sold goods globally. Not knowing how our industry worked, the bank got skittish and forced us to file for bankruptcy after 30 years of being in business. This was despite having several orders in process and many more coming in hourly. (I personally had over $1M worth of signed orders on my desk that would have floated the company for several months.) This bank error, for a lack of better word, unnecessarily forced many into unemployment as did this Toys R Us. Waiting until bankruptcy proceedings to actually learn a customer's business means someone is failing at their job.
