Things have been suspiciously quiet on the home front. Normally the posts come in faster than excuses after a bad court ruling. Maybe someone is busy trying to figure out how many garage sales it takes to cover a very large number?

Guess we’ll enjoy the peace while it lasts.

Setting the Record Straight… Again

Late is better than never, but we know a lot of our followers are animal lovers and advocates. So in the spirit of supporting our animal-loving community, we figured it was time to clear something up — since apparently it still hasn’t sunk in for some people.

Despite repeated claims from the page formerly known as Citizens for Kristine Bunch (now rebranded as The Smithville Files), animal trapping is not illegal.

We know… shocking. 🙄

This has been explained to Kristine numerous times. By members of the community. By law enforcement. And even by the Department of Agriculture. Yet somehow, the story keeps getting recycled like it’s brand new information.

Not only that, but multiple reports were filed with the Department of Agriculture by Kristine accusing several people of illegal trapping. Investigators had to spend time looking into these complaints, using Missouri resources to chase down allegations that had no legitimate basis.

At this point, the investigators probably deserve hazard pay for having to sort through this level of nonsense.

The good news is you don’t have to take anyone’s word for it. These reports have been obtained through Sunshine requests, and we’re sharing them so everyone can read them for themselves. We even color coded each report.

Because when it comes to the facts, how does the saying go? Oh yeah…. Documentation beats conversation. The receipts speak a lot louder than the made up law Kristine keeps preaching.

Maybe the perpetual "kan't do it" forgot that she did buy a Ford. And it was repossessed by the bank and she still owes over $35K after it was auctioned off.

According to her video posted over the weekend - she currently owes over $50K on her BMW and it's worth around $32K.

Do you want someone representing your ward who is so fiscally irresponsible that in less than 6 years finances 2 vehicles and after the banks auction them off for non payment still owes $60K in unpaid vehicle loans?

Do you want someone whose professional and personal finances are in constant disarray having ANYTHING to do with how city dollars are spent?

On the plus side - looks like the city's investment in bike paths are about to be put to good use.

Interesting take that a political candidate posts fond memories about a vehicle that she put $10K down on just DAYS after receiving a Covid relief loan meant for payroll purposes.

After the vehicle was repossessed and sold at auction for non payment of the $86K note - she then added the outstanding $37K owed to Ford Motor Credit to Bankruptcy #3.

Oh the stories we bet that van could tell....
