Introducing our dance class for ages 11–14 instructed by Alexander Crespo Rosario! Not an experienced dancer? No worries! This class is for everyone, whether it’s their first movement class or they want to expand their acting and movement skills. Students explore multiple styles of dance in a supportive environment. Check out our winter classes! Acting classes for kids between ages 4-8 take place Saturdays. Our dance class for ages 11-14 takes place Mondays after school. Classes begin January 26. After 5 years, we realize this is more than just a summer camp. It’s a community. We saw our students take brave little steps, followed by giant leaps of growth. Keep it in your body! Our classes for adults at Boston Center for the Arts and AS 220 in Providence are coming up! Each weekend dives into a specific area of physical theater providing opportunities for actors and performers to deepen their craft and explore exercises that develop flexibility, expand range, and hone our ability to connect. Our workshops are also for non-performers seeking to explore the benefits of laughter through movement and playful improvisation.

Matthew Bretschneider is artistic director of Studio Playground and an adjunct professor for Boston University. He has performed with the Huntington Theatre Company, Theatre Row & the Flea Theater. Alexander Crespo-Rosario has performed with Trinity Repertory Company, Rhode Island Latino Arts, Burbage Theatre Company & Arts on Site.

Our theater camp served over 80 students this summer. A substantial number of scholarships were awarded thanks to support from our sponsors, board of directors, and generous individuals who helped us achieve our 2025 scholarship fund goal.

How exciting to see so many familiar faces for our 1st week of camp! And guess what? A couple spots just opened for the 2nd week! Our students learn that when they are brave and go onstage, they can make someone laugh which boosts their serotonin and makes them feel better. And that’s a gift that makes the world spin a little more compassionately.

Our Online Auction is open! Proceeds support the Studio Playground Scholarship Fund.
