Wylder update 😽three days ago we knew Wylder was sick based on his symptoms of lethargy, sunken in eyes and not wanting to eat, we knew something was off. He is 13 pounds, this boy loves to eat so that in and of itself is weird! He is 1 year and 1 month old and catches all the rodents in the neighborhood and climbs trees higher up than I would ever like to look down from, this guy has no fear.
I brought him to the Vet’s office 👨⚕️two days ago and the Vet (who was absolutely amazing, I wish he was a human doctor too, great bedside manner) had given him subcutaneous fluids and an antibiotic shot, but we really didn’t know what kind of infection he has. So yesterday morning he developed a cough and sneezing, still lethargic and not himself. I did not realize cats can get colds and viruses as people do, just never dawned on me I guess🤷🏼♀️
I think the antibiotic and rest kicked in by the evening yesterday because he started eating again (small amounts that I have to hold up to his mouth because he had gotten so weak he won’t bend his neck down to the bowl on tbe floor 😿) and he was able to jump up on the couch by himself. 🎉Groggy most of the time with moments of more energy at times. He hates the antibiotic eye drops, I also hate administering them. He is still on house arrest with strict orders to rest. He did meow at the front door this morning so I’m thinking he’s a little less delirious. Slow and steady for this guy. 😴
It’s just so hard to help an animal suffering that can’t speak and tell you their symptoms. As a nurse I have a deep respect for veterinary care, wow you guys have a hard job and your assessment skills are ridiculous.
Oh and book update. 📖 is wonderfully dramatic, angsty and messy. Falling back in love with reading after a hiatus is reminding me how we are made of stories and our memories are powerful stories of adventures. How did I loose my passion for reading for a time I do not know.
