We met Jené and David at the Northwood Manufacturing Camper Rally in La Grande, Oregon — and their story is one you don’t want to miss.

They travel in a 2025 F-450 carrying a 2013 Arctic Fox 990 , the perfect setup for exploring remote places. Behind them? Jené’s 1978 TOYOTA Land Cruiser — the same one she learned to drive in. Now, it’s their trail rig and town car on adventures.

But what makes it truly special: every time Jené takes the wheel, she remembers her mom, who drove it every day for eight years.

Watch the reel to meet Jené and David.

Every place we visit leaves a memory. We collect magnets that we put on our fridge — each one a little story from the road. For Adam and Val of Bantha Overland (rig pictured here), it’s stickers on their hallmark mfg that tell their travel tale.

What about you — magnets, stickers, patches, postcards…or do you just collect memories?

Truck Camper Magazine’s Story

In 2004 we were planning a cross-country trip. We started researching RVs and came across truck campers. We had seen layouts and photographs on the web, and then went to see a truck camper in person. We were sold!

Throughout 2004 and 2005 we explored many national parks, state parks, and BLM areas in our camper. Upon returning from that trip we sold our truck camper and went back to our jobs.

Missing our lifestyle on the road, we thought, “What if we started a magazine about truck campers?” We knew we could help others get to the same point we were at - enjoying the open road, meeting new people, and discovering new places.

That’s where Truck Camper Magazine began. We started calling the manufacturers and dealers, and they were excited to support our efforts. Soon we were announcing new truck campers, holding mod contests, and interviewing users about their camping adventures.
