We love visiting camper factories—it’s where craftsmanship and innovation collide.

At Rugged Mountain Custom RV, Jesse Collinsworth showed us how CNC technology makes it so that every cut is identical, every part precise, and there’s almost zero waste. As Jesse says in the video, “Every part comes out exactly the same every time.”

Have you been to a truck camper factory before?

Yes, you’re seeing that right — a washer and dryer in a truck camper!

Gordon from TCM and Randall Pozzi from HOST Campers show us the Splendide laundry center inside the Host Yukon triple-slide. This same setup is available in the Host Mammoth.

The vented Splendide combo uses about 15 gallons of fresh water and has its own dump.

With the Yukon’s 65-gallon fresh tank and off-grid power package, you can even do laundry without hookups.

Would you use a laundry setup like this on the road, or skip it for more storage space?

James swapped van life for a TOYOTA Tundra hybrid with a Bowen Customs bed and a hallmark mfg Guanella — and hasn’t looked back.

Why the switch?

Because this setup gets him further off the beaten path. With climbing gear, surfboards, and bikes in tow, he’s chasing the outdoors — not hookups.

For James, the Tundra’s global platform means reliability anywhere, and his Hallmark gives him the freedom to live the lifestyle he loves — adventure, community, and the open road.

Adventure’s calling — what’s your rig of choice?

Today’s featured camper is the Scout Campers Yoho Pop-Up — minimalist in size, maxed out in gear. Built for mid-size trucks, this pop-up is proof that you don’t need a huge rig to go big on adventure.

With a 132Ah lithium battery, diesel heater, Dometic CFX45 fridge, LifeSaver water jerrycan, Unbound Power Tower, removable jacks, and portable stove, the Yoho is ready for anything you throw its way.

And if you love the idea of a hard-side camper? Scout’s got you covered — there’s a version for that too.

Would you choose a pop-up like this or go hard-side all the way?

Today we’re featuring the Outpost Campers 6.5 —a composite-built hard-side truck camper engineered for strength, insulation, and comfort miles from pavement.

Designed for serious off-grid travel with an EcoFlow 5kW Independence battery system and 250-watts of solar (expandable to 500-watts), the Outpost 6.5 combines rugged construction with thoughtful interior design. It’s compact enough for remote trails but equipped like a full basecamp.

The rig pictured is geared up with Stapll fender racks, featuring RotopaX mounts and a large hard case — giving you secure, modular exterior storage for fuel, recovery gear, and trail essentials.

Together, the Outpost 6.5 and STAPLL combo turns your rig into a self-sufficient adventure machine.

Starlink, 1000-watts of solar, 400Ah of lithium, a 2000-watt inverter, a water filtration system, and enough food for an off-grid adventure in paradise — what more could you want?

Gord and Mary-Ann of The Time Is Now Adventures have built the ultimate go-anywhere setup in their Kodiak 4500 and Bigfoot 10-6, traveling across North America and soaking in views like this one from Playa Punta Los Mu***os, Baja.

Truck Camper Magazine’s Story

In 2004 we were planning a cross-country trip. We started researching RVs and came across truck campers. We had seen layouts and photographs on the web, and then went to see a truck camper in person. We were sold!

Throughout 2004 and 2005 we explored many national parks, state parks, and BLM areas in our camper. Upon returning from that trip we sold our truck camper and went back to our jobs.

Missing our lifestyle on the road, we thought, “What if we started a magazine about truck campers?” We knew we could help others get to the same point we were at - enjoying the open road, meeting new people, and discovering new places.

That’s where Truck Camper Magazine began. We started calling the manufacturers and dealers, and they were excited to support our efforts. Soon we were announcing new truck campers, holding mod contests, and interviewing users about their camping adventures.
