As we dive into the heart of summer, it's a great time to reflect on our goals and set new ones. This month, let's focus on growth and preparation for the upcoming school year.
Remember, learning doesn't take a vacation! The 🗝️ is making it fun for our children.

Tips for Summer Learning using BTETR Lessons learning strategy:

Build Background 🧠: Reflect on your child's academic progress or emotional journey during last school year. Think of their achievements and challenges to set the stage for new learning.

Talk 💬: Engage in meaningful conversations with your children. Ask about their day, their interests, and their dreams.
Explore 🌍: Encourage exploration through books, nature walks, and hands-on activities that spark curiosity and imagination (see suggestions by DFW Child). Try to make time to do at least one activity this month.
Talk Again 🗣️: [after an activity or a simple walk paying extra attention to nature] Discuss what you've explored together. Sharing thoughts and ideas enhances understanding and retention.

First Parent Engagement Meeting Recap at Educate Con Ganas

I am thrilled to share the success of our first personalized parent engagement meeting at Educate Con Ganas! It was a true pleasure meeting one of our newcomer families and introducing them to the wonderful resources available at The Frisco Public Library.

During our time together, I provided a comprehensive tour of the library. We also discussed various college options and I shared valuable resources to help the entire family improve their English skills. Additionally, I highlighted different areas they can explore to learn more about American culture and systems.

The family’s warmth and enthusiasm were truly heartwarming, and as a token of their appreciation, they gifted me delicious dumplings. This experience reinforced the significant impact we can have on a student’s education when we actively engage and support their parents in understanding our educational system.

At Educate Con Ganas, we pride ourselves on personalizing our engagement for each family, supporting their specific needs. We encourage any family to reach out so we can help them successfully support their child's education.

We will be starting our ESL online summer classes for middle and high school students this upcoming week! Please send me a message for more information. I have been teaching newcomers for 18 years. When I arrived in Frisco in 1990, I did not speak any English. My experience allows me to develop a unique curriculum to meet the needs of newcomers. I would love to provide a nurturing environment where students feel like part of a family and their language skills can thrive!
