Dry Shampoo Hack for Synthetic Wigs! ✨

Want to tame that artificial shine and add some texture to your synthetic wig? Reach for dry shampoo that is either clear or tinted brown for your darker wigs.
Applying a light mist of dry shampoo (like COLAB Original OR Batiste Dark Hair) can help:

💫 Reduce that overly glossy “plastic” look
💫 Add grip and texture for easier styling
💫 Give your wig a more natural, matte finish

Pro tip: Apply sparingly from 6-8 inches away, focusing on areas that look too shiny. Gently work it through with your fingers or a wide tooth comb then style as desired. To refresh the wig, I will shampoo it with Shea Moisture Wig&Weave Residue Remover Shampoo (which is designed for human & synthetic hair).

THE NEW WIG DEBRIEF:: Olivia by

The 90’s called and I got my hair back! 🙌🏻 This style is so wearable due to the light density and lovely long loose layers. The monofilament top means you can part it in any direction, so I have it in my beloved GenX left hand side part. 🤭

The fibers are super soft regular synthetic so I like to use a light spray of COLAB Original Dry Shampoo (which is Clear, not white). This will make it look more natural & less shiny without gumming up the fibers.

Since it is a fully hand tied cap it is very comfortable and breathable so I won’t overheat wearing it all day.

I have it in #4 Brownie Finale which is a gorgeous rich brown. Perfect for fall/winter and an outstanding match to my natural sideburns.

53 and feeling grateful. 💫

As I close out this year celebrating another trip around the sun, I’m taking a moment to reflect on what really matters. This community of incredible women who show up, share their stories, and remind me daily that we’re all figuring it out together—you mean everything to me. ❤️‍🔥

To my ride-or-dies who’ve been there through every pivot and every celebration, and to the friends I’ve made in this beautiful online space—thank you for seeing me, supporting me, and making midlife feel like the best life. 🥰

As I step into 53, I’m carrying forward some big dreams for the new year. More courage. More joy. More of the things that light me up and less of what dims that light. I’m ready to bet on myself in new ways and keep building this amazing chapter. 🙌🏻
