Most people remember the moment Wonder Woman defeated Ares. What doesn't get talked about nearly as much is what happened next.

In the New 52 storyline, defeating Ares wasn't just another victory. The title of God of War was magically passed on to Diana, making her the new holder of that divine role. She didn't simply prove she was stronger than Ares for a single battle. She inherited the authority that came with his position among the Olympian gods.

That changed the way other gods looked at her. Diana was no longer only the Amazon princess or one of Earth's greatest heroes. For a time, she stood among Olympus as a god herself, carrying responsibilities that went far beyond protecting humanity. It's one of the biggest changes to Wonder Woman's history, yet plenty of DC fans still overlook that part of her story.
