🚨NEW: Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde is now formally asking County Treasurer Debra Buckner to resign.

This comes after Buckner raised concerns publicly about Pulaski County’s ability to meet payroll, claims Hyde calls “inaccurate” and “irresponsible,” saying an internal review found no evidence of mismanagement or a financial crisis.

Hyde says those statements caused unnecessary alarm among employees and damaged public trust, while also pointing to a breakdown in communication between offices.

Buckner has not yet publicly responded to this resignation request. EDIT 4/18/26 1:17pm- Buckner responded to this post in the comments. “TY for this post. Just for info-
I was asked for & gave a response to the DG reporter.
Short Version- LOL
Resign? Laughable 😁,” said Buckner below.

This follows our earlier reporting on the county’s sudden financial concerns. Now, the disagreement has escalated into a leadership dispute.

You can find video of Hyde and Buckner’s back and forth at the last meeting on my page. Link is in the comments

Currently at an Emergency Pulaski County Quorum Court meeting. The court called this meeting after noticing an extreme budget shortfall in the millions that came right before payroll, leaving many county employees wondering if they’ll be paid, many of which are in the room tonight.

County Judge Barry Hyde says they finished their legislative audit with no findings, no real signs of shortfall until last Friday.

Judge Hyde says they’re working on a RFQ for an audit of all departments starting immediately.

The county will freeze hiring open positions with an executive order tomorrow morning. Will have more on how the county got here tonight, and their plans to get to the bottom of this, on KATV at 10.

🚨The Jacksonville North Pulaski School District is responding after our March 25th report on a parent being quoted nearly $35,000 for public records.

In a statement, the district says it received 43 FOIA requests from one individual in just over three months, many covering broad topics and large volumes of records. Leaders say fulfilling those requests requires hours of staff time to review, redact, and prepare documents, costs they say are allowed under Arkansas law.

In our previous report we spoke with UALR William H. Bowen School of Law Professor, Robert Steinbuch on the legality of the FOIA price. Steinbuch believes charging to fulfill the request, and the cost itself, is illegal under Arkansas FOIA law (story linked in comments.)

The district also says it remains committed to transparency but is encouraging more focused requests to help manage workload and turnaround time.

The Hall High School Basketball team are State Champions! AND Hall-West High School of Innovation will be staying open! The Arkansas State Board of Education approved the school’s application to become a district ran conversion charter school next school year (‘26-‘27)

The district began exploring the idea last September after Hall High didn’t bring in enough students for a freshman class this year. The goal was to design a program the district can’t currently run under state accreditation rules for traditional public schools.

That’s why LRSD is sought conversion charter status, which allows the school to operate with more flexibility.

Darryl Smith from the Arkansas Department of Education’s Office of School Choice explained, “A conversion charter typically is really just a public school that’s in a local school district that is being converted into something that’s a little more flexible.”

Smith also told the board in a meeting last November, that a conversion charter is still a public school within the district.

Charter status allows waivers from certain requirements, including staffing rules and curriculum mandates, giving schools room to build new models that don’t fit standard structures. The board of education’s approval is only for 1 year. LRSD will have to go back before the board of education to report on next year’s performance.

To sum it all up, LRSD kids will have another unique learning option in Hall next school year, along with the school just winning a state title🎉Congratulations to the team!

🚨LONOKE DO NOT DRINK ORDER LIFTED🚨

The Arkansas Department of Health has lifted a “Do Not Drink” order for Lonoke Waterworks after testing confirmed the water is safe.

The order was originally issued as an emergency precaution because maintenance work at the chemical treatment plant may have allowed water with high levels of chlorine and fluoride into the distribution system.

After the system was flushed and water samples were tested on March 11, 2026, the Department of Health found the water within allowable limits for chlorine and fluoride.

Because of that, officials say the water is now safe for human consumption, and the “Do Not Drink” notice has been lifted.

The issue was tied specifically to maintenance-related work at the treatment plant.

I’m told the Health Department just lifted the NO DRINK order in Lonoke. More to come.

Here across the street from Lonoke City Hall where the Lonoke Police Department is passing out water to residents. Right now it’s one pack of water per car.

The Arkansas Department of Health has issued the “Do Not Drink” notice for Lonoke Waterworks for the entire system. This order was issued as an emergency measure because of the possibility that water with high concentrations of fluoride and chlorine may have entered the distribution system as a result of maintenance related work at the chemical treatment plant.

Under the “Do Not Drink” order, all affected customers must be advised that the water is considered unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must not be used. All ice cubes should be discarded. Boiling water is not an effective treatment for the contaminated water. Water should not be consumed while this notice is in effect. Do not drink or cook with the water while this notice is in effect. Non-consumptive uses of water, such as washing hands and flushing toilets, are acceptable.

This “Do Not Drink Order” will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and tests performed by the Arkansas Department of Health have shown the water to have chemicals return to safe levels.

The Do Not Drink order was due to maintenance related work.
