In today’s Advisors Unscripted, Martin S. talks about his dream to pursue a career in music as the next Berry Gordy before entering the financial industry, where he would eventually earn his CRPC®, AIFA® and become president of an advisory. Along the way, he attended one of the premier HCBUs at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and found work at the Department of Commerce. He got married, had a child and after a successful stop at Merrill Lynch as a financial professional, decided to start his own firm. It was during this transition that Martin said he learned the valuable lesson of serving his clients’ needs and not discriminating based on the amount of assets they had. He also discusses the life of his grandfather as an anomaly in the legacy of racism.
Advisors Unscripted is a weekly podcast that takes a closer look at why financial advisors do what they do, and how that makes them who they are.
