⚠️BREAKING NEWS⚠️ - FIRST EF5 TORNADO IN 12 YEARS
On June 20, 2025, a devastating tornado struck near Enderlin, North Dakota, initially rated as an EF-3 but later upgraded to an EF-5 after detailed surveys revealed catastrophic damage. The National Weather Service confirmed the EF-5 rating—its first in the United States since 2013—after discovering evidence of winds exceeding 210 mph, including several fully loaded grain hopper cars being tipped over and an empty tanker car thrown nearly 475 feet. The tornado leveled multiple homes, debarked large trees, and obliterated outbuildings along its 12-mile path, which reached over a mile wide at its peak. Lasting roughly 19 minutes, the storm killed three people and caused widespread destruction, marking one of the most powerful and rare tornadoes ever recorded in North Dakota.
