It all started when Kelly Raisor found Dugger, a six-month-old 90-pound mastiff boxer mix that had been dumped down the road from her house.

This report came in several weeks ago. Currently, the shelter has a volunteer who is being investigated for pursuing a relationship with a minor. A concerned citizen shared that this information was brought to the attention of the shelter director, as there are minors who volunteer at the shelter.
Instead of taking the proper steps to ensure safety this person was ignored and mocked

Even more so, this individual has been allowed to adopt an injured dog that needs extensive medical attention, but to avoid the expenses of amputating the leg, he was allowed to be adopted as is by the volunteer who is currently under investigation for suspicion of child pe******ia.

The board meetings are always on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm at the shelter. The Wednesday varies on who can make it to a meeting that week and even then most of the board members do not go to them. They definitely dont like employees attending them either. Im not sure on if the public is allowed now but once upon a time they were close to everyone outside of boardmembers. You want to know where and what your donations and tax money go towards, besides stocks, CDs and investments reach out to the shelter and request to speak with staff, the current director, and board.

Envisioning a warm heartwarming miracle. A happy forever home, together forever loved.
It's hard to believe it's been over a year and still not one family in the whole of Cass County is able and willing to rescue them.
Speaks poorly about the community. Truly saddened to see their need go unanswered.

I received the first piece of positive feedback today, and it seems like people are starting to notice a change, which is really exciting! I’ve also come to realize that not everyone who shares information does so with the best intentions; some enjoy playing both sides. Nonetheless, I believe it's important to share positive observations. During my brief visits to the shelter and events, I noticed some encouraging signs as well. I’m committed to staying neutral and curious as we move forward. I will share from reputable sources without conflicting interests. At the very least staff are happy.

There has been a notable increase in the number of stray dogs in the area, including those that have recently been adopted from CCHS. This situation has raised concerns among locals, as both the shelter and area rescues are currently overwhelmed by the number of animals in their care.

A community member messaged the page. They are trying to connect with the Cass County Councilman's board of directors. Does anyone know who and how to reach them?

CCHS is currently under contract with the city and county.

City contract animal control agreement revenue of $137,000 each year. This is a quarterly paid agreement.

A recent contract with the county has been in place. CCHS receives $$350 per animal taken in from the county.

Transparency is fundamental for success! The Community deserves to be involved.

Three open spots are available on the CCHS Board of Directors. Which needs to be filled. This is a required term to hold the current status. Natalie Baldining is the new executive director for CCHS. Freeing up her spot on the board since staff cannot be part of the board of directors due to conflict of interest.

Becoming a board member of CCHS has its perks. Such as scheduled 3-day weekend retreats, which CCHS pays for under operation funds. Funds allocated from the city and county contract agreement funding for servicing Cass County and the City of Logansport.

Ask CCHS how to become part of the board of directors.
