The Voice From the Baby Monitor
(Inspired by real haunting reports like the Ammons case and Smurl haunting that terrified families in the USA and became worldwide horror legends.)

If you hear your child talking to someone at 3:17 AM...
..and your child is alone in the room...

don't answer the voice that answers back.

In 2018, a family from a small town in Pennsylvania moved into an old rental house after the father's construction business collapsed.

The house was cheap.

Too cheap.

Three bedrooms. Two floors. Quiet neighborhood.

Nobody asked why it had been empty for almost four years.

The father, Daniel, later told police there was only one thing that felt strange on the first night.

The baby monitor.

Every few minutes, it made a soft crackling sound.

Like someone breathing.

At first, they blamed the old device.

Cheap electronics.

Bad signal.

Nothing unusual.

Until their six-year-old daughter, Emma, said something during breakfast.

"Mom, the old lady came back last night."

Her mother laughed.

"What old lady?"

Emma looked confused.

"The one in my room."

The room went silent.

Because Emma had never slept alone before moving there.

And nobody had mentioned an old woman.

That night, Daniel stayed awake.

He sat in the living room watching TV while the baby monitor rested beside him.

Midnight.

1:00 AM.

2:00 AM.

Nothing.

Then...

3:17 AM.

Static.

A long hiss.

Then Emma's voice.

Very clear.

"Daddy?"

Daniel grabbed the monitor.

"Emma?"

No answer.

Then another voice came through.

An old woman's voice.

Weak.

Whispering.

Almost laughing.

"He's not upstairs."

Daniel froze.

Every hair on his body stood up.

The voice wasn't coming from the living room.

It was coming through the monitor.

From Emma's room.

He ran upstairs.

Emma was asleep.

Alone.

No old woman.

No intruder.

Nothing.

But the closet door was open.

He remembered locking it before bedtime.

The next morning he checked the room.

Inside the closet he found something strange.

Scratched into the wood behind a shelf.

Just one sentence.

DON'T LET HER SEE THE BASEMENT.

Nobody knew what it meant.

The house didn't even have a basement.

At least that's what the landlord had told them.

A week later, Emma started drawing pictures.

Every drawing showed the same thing.

A thin woman.

No eyes.

Standing beside a black door.

Sometimes she drew herself holding the woman's hand.

Sometimes she drew the woman standing beside her bed.

Always smiling.

Always watching.

Then came the recordings.

Daniel bought a newer monitor.

A better one.

Digital.

No interference.

No chance of crossed signals.

For three nights, nothing happened.

On the fourth night...

the monitor activated by itself.

Motion detected.

3:17 AM.

Again.

Daniel replayed the footage.

Emma was sitting upright in bed.

Eyes closed.

Still asleep.

Facing the corner.

Then she spoke.

Slowly.

Monotonously.

Like somebody reading from a script.

"She says the stairs are hungry."

A few seconds passed.

Then a second voice answered.

The same old woman.

Except this time...

the voice came from inside Emma's room.

Not through the speaker.

From the room itself.

The footage recorded it.

One sentence.

"Tell Daddy I miss my skin."

The recording ended.

Nobody could explain it.

Not even the police.

That's when Daniel searched the property's history.

And discovered the landlord had lied.

The house once had a basement.

It had been sealed with concrete in 1994.

After a fire.

A woman died there.

Alone.

Nobody found her for nearly two weeks.

The family moved out immediately.

But Emma refused to leave.

She screamed.

Cried.

Kicked the car door.

Saying the old woman would be lonely.

For months afterward, things seemed normal.

Until Emma started talking in her sleep.

Every night.

At exactly 3:17 AM.

Always the same sentence.

"She's still under the stairs."

Then one night...

Daniel heard breathing from his daughter's room.

The baby monitor had been thrown away months earlier.

Yet the sound was unmistakable.

Static.

Crackling.

A weak old voice.

Right beside his ear.

Whispering:

"You forgot me."

Police records confirm a woman really died in that house fire.

The basement really was sealed.

And according to the family who moved in afterward...

they removed the concrete floor during renovations.

What they found underneath has never been publicly disclosed.

And if you think this story ends there...

The daughter is now twenty years old.

She still wakes up at 3:17 AM.

Every single night.

Because somebody still talks through a baby monitor that no longer exists.

And she says the voice keeps asking the same question:

"Did they open the basement yet?"

😨 THE VOICE COMING FROM MY DAUGHTER'S ROOM WASN'T HERS...

It happened at 2:43 AM.

I woke up after hearing my daughter talking in her room.

At first, I thought she was on her phone.

Then I heard her say:

"Please stop standing there."

My heart dropped.

She sounded terrified.

I rushed out of bed and started walking toward her room.

Then I heard another voice.

A deep voice.

Slow.

Calm.

Almost whispering.

"I've been waiting for your mother to wake up."

I froze.

My daughter was only 8 years old.

And there was nobody else in the house.

When I finally opened the bedroom door...

what I saw still keeps me awake every night.
