"Yes, 5%. That’s the percentage of Latinos in the U.S. who hold a master’s degree. Every 1 out of 20 Latinos in the U.S. managed to make it through the “don’t bothers” and came together to make just that…5%.

I happen to be one of those 20 people in-progress. And though I’d like to think so, there’s really no guarantee I’ll be part of that group."

"Long Beach State president Jane Close Conoley urged the CSU Board of Trustees to fund the outdated buildings on campus including the Fine Arts buildings during Wednesday’s meeting.

Fine Arts students organized a walk out last week to direct administration’s attention to the lack of air conditioning in their buildings. The lack of air-conditioning became a prevalent issue during the massive heat wave in Southern California.

Conoley addressed the walk out during the Board of Trustees meeting and echoed student concerns over the outdated buildings in need of modern accommodations and improvements."

"Moving from the Philippines to the U.S. in 10th grade, I had to adjust to a completely new world of language, cultures and a new relationship with my own identity.

Music, like always, helped me find something to confide in, something to express the loss I felt. In those moments, I stumbled upon the K-pop group SEVENTEEN and their song “Home.”"

For her Amazon Prime show, “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” Lizzo won the Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program. She is now halfway in becoming one of the few EGOT winners."

OPINION: "During her 70 years of reign, Queen Elizabeth II rarely acknowledged the crimes committed by herself or the institution she embodied. Despite countless requests for reparations and the return of stolen artifacts, the Queen stood by silently.

Many have chosen to mourn the 96-year-old symbol of British colonialism. I will instead mourn her empire’s victims, some of whom will never have their stories reach the light of day."

"Long Beach State president Jane Close Conoley received a 28% or $106,227 salary increase in July, California State University board of trustees voted to give university presidents equity and compensation adjustments.

The California Faculty Association, which represents most CSU faculty, has voiced their disagreement with the decision after faculty received a 3% raise. They plan to continue expressing their disdain during Tuesday’s board of trustees meeting."

Smorgasport, a free carnival event for Long Beach State students and faculty packaged with rides, food, games and music, was scheduled to take place this weekend for the first time since the two-year break due to the pandemic.

However, extreme weather conditions from Tropical Storm Kay, which has been quickly moving up the coast from Sand Diego County, has led to the event’s cancellation out of safety concerns.

“We are 100% rescheduling this event,” said Shannon Couey, ASI Communications Coordinator. “Smorgasport is definitely still happening.”

"Long Beach State defeats Notre Dame 3-0 in a never trailing game, capping off the LBSU tournament 2-0 overall.

The offense saw Redshirt Junior Morgan Chacon and Sophomore Natalie Glenn succeeding 10 kills each through the three sets.

Both players got a taste of Notre Dame’s frontline as they went .140 and .133 respectively on their hit percentages, but kept defense the on their toes by attempting 43 and 30 kills each."

My Wish For Vladimir Putin ....
May Ukraine swiftly become your Vietnam.

Our alumna, artist Emily Rose Casares (Ryman '13) was featured on Daily 49er ! Congrats, Emily! 🎉

“Between the bright colors and the dark themes of Casares’ work lies her truth. When she puts her pieces on display, it is as if she were putting her innermost feelings and experiences on display. She no longer feels embarrassed or uneasy about this. Instead, she gains strength from it.”

True! A negative number times another negative number equals a Positive Number. Similarly being off-centered in a society that is also somewhat cuckoo makes you normal. Develop a rogue mentality and break from the herd and prosper. For you on Amazon @
Is There Structural Racism In Education....

If there is structural racism in America, it is the government monopoly on public schools. The Key for a better life for any child is a good quality education. Unfortunately the public school system is a failure in preparing minority children for a productive life. They should be teaching students the basics like reading, writing, math, science and history…not this critical race theory crap.

All parents or legal guardians of school age children should be given a VOUCHER where they can send their kids to a school of their choice. This could be a public, private or parochial school. The educational monopoly will not change until you introduce competition.

What America Desperately Needs?

America needs young and aggressive individuals who want to add to the prosperity and wealth of the country. We need Prosperity Creators, namely, new entrepreneurs.

What better way to achieve this goal than by expediting full citizenship to the Dreamers who came here as children. They are an ambitious lot and America needs them. The Future of the U.S. lies in vibrant economic growth.
Sanford Kahn
Be Prepared!
Thinking The Unthinkable

We think that the possibility of war in Europe is unthinkable. That is exactly what Europeans thought in the very early 1900’s because their economies were well integrated. The unthinkable happened twice (WWI followed by WWII). Mr. Putin has basically declared war on Europe and the West. It is a cold war now, but it could turn hot. We have established foes in the China-Russia-Iranian axis. They are determined to weaken then dismantle the West by whatever means necessary.

The road to peace lies in being prepared for war and letting your foes know you have the will to use it. We must invest more resources for building-up our military capabilities. Our adversaries view us as weak and indecisive. Change is imperative!

Profiles In Courage

A young John F. Kenney wrote a book entitled "Profiles In Courage" well before he became President. I would like to nominate two U.S. Senators to be included in that book title. These two are Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D.,Ariz) and Senator Joe Manchin (D.,West VA). These two senators bravely stood up for what was right and the onslaughts and bullying of their fellow Democrats for not scrapping the Senate's longstanding tradition of the filibuster.
We need more people like this in Congress.

Lies and More Lies!
The President likes to slam Georgia over voting rights, but here is a figure he should know or forgets. In 2020, the Census Bureau says black voter turnout in Georgia was 64% and in Massachusetts it was only 36%. The lies of this administration continue.
What Star To Follow In 2022?

Follow the star of Economic Prosperity. How? By tax policies that will encourage work, saving and investment (entrepreneurship). High taxes act as a brake to economic growth and opportunities.

Be prosperous in the New Year!
Sanford Kahn, Business Author/Speaker
Three Cheers For Mr. Scrooge....

In English literature there are probably a few individuals more despicable than Mr. Scrooge. On a personal level, he was a mean-spirited miser. But, as far as society is concerned, he and his ilk did more to raise societal living standards than all the charitable giving combined.

It was the Industrial Revolution that finally started to raise both living standards and longevity. For example, in 16th century London the average life span was no longer than it was in ancient Rome.

Like any new enterprise, the Industrial Revolution needed money (capital) to blossom. It was people like Scrooge who forwent consumption and saved and invested their funds in these new businesses and employed people.

Without Scrooge society and standard-of-livings would have stagnated. This holiday season let’s honor and thank Scrooge.

Be Solvent & Prosper,
Sanford Kahn, Business Author/Speaker
