The best connections still happen the old-fashioned way — through people who know each other, who notice alignment, and who are willing to hold a 'Space' without forcing or receiving an outcome.

🏄 US Open Week Is Here — and Huntington Beach Surf History Is Moving With It

The 2026 US Open of Surfing returns to Huntington Beach July 25 through August 2, bringing another full week of surfing, crowds, old friends, new faces, and plenty happening around town.

But this year, there’s another reason to slow down and take a look at where Huntington Beach surfing has been—not just where it’s going.

During US Open week...
🦋 Surfing Walk of Fame and Surfing Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will once again recognize some of the people who helped shape surfing’s history and culture.

🦋 Just before the first competition heat horn blows...and the US OPEN Surfing Competition begins...

🦋 The Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum opens the doors to its new home at the Main Street Library, 525 Main Street, on July 24.

SideBar... Whadda great move... admist the angst and hassles. This New partnership with the City of Huntington Beach gives residents and visitors alike a free place to dig deeper into the people, boards, photographs, stories and milestones behind Huntington Beach’s surfing legacy.

🦋 The museum’s reopening will also introduce an exhibition celebrating 50 years of professional surfing.

For those of us who have been around Huntington Beach for a while, that may be the best part of weeks like this.

The 2026 'Lexus US Open of Surfing,' shows us what surfing looks like today.

The Walk of Fame, Hall of Fame and Surfing Museum remind us how we got here—and who helped carry it forward.

🌊 Yet another reason "Life's just Better LivinginHB," Old stories, New chapters. Same o'l 7.5 miles of surf breaks, lifeguard towers, surfers and wahines.

Big shout-out and Mahalo thanks to Huntington Beach Longboard Crew President Gary Sahgan, Chuck Linnen and the entire Clan of the Huntington Beach Longboard Crew for the continuing conversations, "heads-up," and for keeping the 'parchment rolls' of this sleepy little surftown's local surf history connected.

Had a 'fog-up' issue with the face of my watch.

So I thought I'd stop by 'Facets 58' in SeaCliff Village.

Spoke with the proprietor McKay and he said absolutely we'll take a look at it. His store was busy so I didn't get a chance to 'Catch-up' but, I will upon my return to pick it up!

Thank-you McKay, family and crew!

Yet just another reason why...
