LiCers LiC

LiCers LiC News from LiCers for LICers. Your daily Long Island City news source. Our main focus is to give you the news surrounding Long Island City. Represent!

Lifelong resident of Long Island City, the owner of this page has a passion for this neighborhood that stretches back to multiple generations of family history. Most often, at best, you'll find most page owners of websites dedicated to LIC news to be recent residents living here only in the past ten years. Witnessing, firsthand, the evolution of this neighborhood from an industrial factory zone to

a booming residential community, you will find all the information you need to know about Long Island City through the eyes of passionate dedicated people who not only call this place home because they love it but because it's the only home we've known. We do miss our Mom & Pop shops the most, sadly most people in the recent years, never had the chance to meet and shop in this era of our community's history. There's a lot of sites out there to get Long Island City news and we love all the other cites representing our LIC but in the end would you want to get your news from someone who doesn't even live in LIC?

that Court Square in Long Island City, Queens was once three separate stations? The first of the three to open was 45th Road - Court House Square on the IRT Flushing Line in 1916. Less than two decades later, 23rd Street – Ely Avenue on the IND Queens Blvd Line and Long Island City – Court Square on the IND Crosstown Line opened. A passageway, funded by Citigroup, was built in the 1990s to connect the Queens Blvd line with the Crosstown line, but didn’t see much use until December 16, 2001 when the G train began terminating at Court Square during weekdays after the completion of the 63rd Street Connector.

A free out-of-station transfer was available to the IRT Flushing Line until June 3, 2011 when a second link, completely ADA-accessible, was opened to connect the 7 line with the G, E and M lines. The station on the 7 line was renamed Court Square in order to eliminate confusion for passengers
