This photo of Chris Angel and me is from a hike we did together in 2018. The year prior, we met through a q***r community event and became fast friends & collaborators. The first project we worked on together was called Ally Is A Verb, a social media campaign to educate folks on actionable steps to support LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.

I'm thrilled that through our friendship and continued work as q***r & trans community leaders, we've now come together to create The Corporate Guide to LGBTQ+ Events: A DIY Guide for ERG, HR, DEI, and Executive leaders. This Guide is a collection of how tos, dos and don’ts with practical tools for creating LGBTQ+ corporate events that are culturally relevant & affirming.

Join us tomorrow, Thursday, September 8 at 12:30pm PT on LinkedIn Live for our Launch Party where we will discuss the creation of this guide along with its contents and how to use it! We are so excited to get this out into the world to provide more direction on creating impactful LGBTQ+ corporate events. Sign up at bit.ly/LGBTQEventsGuide.

The TGX Initiative at the NGLCC - The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce is comprised of a group of small business owners and advocates who create programming to elevate and support TGX+ small business owners from around the country.

This initiative started a few years ago after a conversation between Justin Nelson and Ashley T Brundage, when they saw a greater need to support TGX+ folks both inside and outside of the NGLCC.

As someone who has benefitted from and now sits on the TGXI, I cannot overstate how influential this initiative, and specifically the leadership of Ashley Brundage, has been in my entrepreneurial journey. Ashley was the first to set up a call with me when I joined NGLCC to give me business advice, has gathered panels to listened to my presentation pitch to give me feedback, and has championed my work to corporate suppliers at NGLCC. I am lucky to consider her a mentor as well as a friend.

I had the incredible honor of presenting the TGX (Transgender and Gender Expansive) Initiative Visibility Award to Ashley at the NGLCC International Business and Leadership Conference this year. From her starting this initiative, to sitting as its inaugural Chair, to the way she shows up for the TGX+ community every day, NGLCC chose the perfect recipient.

Thank you Ashley for all that you do and for showing us what it looks like to lead with empowerment. Empowering Differences

What a gift to meet your publisher in person for the first time!

Last year, I wrote about my story in the anthology "The Real Lives of Transgender and Nonbinary Humans" compiled by Brandi Lai at Publish Your Purpose.

Truly grateful for the vision of Brandi and Jenn T. Grace, Your Future Publisher for making this project happen to share about the stories, strength, and resilience of the greater TGX+ community.

I missed sneaking a photo of the virtual panel I did last week with Daily Kos on implicit bias, but the view from the office wasn't a bad one!

I tuned in remotely while in Vegas for the NGLCC - The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce 2022 Conference. And got to sit alongside some incredible researchers & thought leaders: Dr. Ivy Onyeador, Dr. Keith Maddox, and Dr. Calvin Lai.

Through a lens of research and personal story, we discussed implicit bias, microaggressions, and how they play out in every day life. Including what we see with the intersections of race, gender, and age.

For example, a Black trans man I was talking to a few years ago who was not taken seriously during job interviews because of the ways that hormone therapy made him look younger than he was. The recruiter did not believe his credentials, something that seemed motivated by both race and the perception of his age, and he had difficulty finding a position he had spent years obtaining a degree for.

Shedding light on these experiences, we talked about how to become aware of ones own bias in order shift these occurrences. And how to strategize conversations with others when you notice bias showing up in interactions. We talked about how leading from a place of grace and curiosity can lead to more productive conversations and changed behaviors over time.

Thank you to the staff at Daily Kos for your presence in such thoughtful programming. Truly grateful to have been a part of this discussion.

What an honor to present at the 2022 NGLCC - The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce International Business and Leadership Conference alongside Gabrielle Claiborne of Transformation Journeys Worldwide.

Gabrielle and I met in 2020 when I joined the TGX Initiative with NGLCC. We collaborated to provide training on TGX+ inclusion to the entire NGLCC staff that summer, and a special connection was born. Fast-forward to this year when we discussed what content we could provide to deepen the conversation around authenticity in the workplace beyond gender.

If there is anything we have learned from being transgender leaders in our field, it's that in order to have impactful relationships with others, you must create a secure relationship to yourself.

Thus, Elevating Your Impact Through Authentic Leadership was born. By sharing our own journeys of self-discovery & empowerment, we discussed how to use self-connection as a tool for authentic leadership. How authenticity drives connection with others, leading to more positive impact & joy at work.

I was really taken back by the response we received. Many folks came to speak with us at the end of the session to talk about the ways in which they feel they have to compartmentalize themselves at work, and how draining that can be. It revealed to me how needed and relevant conversations around self-connection and authenticity are. Especially as we continue to consider ways to adjust our workplaces to meet holistic needs.

Thank you to Gabrielle, Justin Nelson, Sabrina Kent, and team NGLCC for this opportunity. I am excited to use this momentum to continue this conversation around the importance of self-connection at work and beyond.

With so much news around LGBTQ+ folks both during and outside of Pride month, it's important that we have accurate, nuanced, and thoughtful stories about LGBTQ+ communities and experiences.

One of my favorite trainings from last year was working with Spectrum and their reporting staff on LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Journalism and the Media. Through this training we explored the importance of representation, expanding beyond historic stereotypes of LGBTQ+ communities, and how to accurately represent q***r and trans folks using identity appropriate language.

I'm so grateful to the team at Spectrum who made this session a priority and for the ways they continue to use this knowledge on shows like Inside the Issues with Alex Cohen. What a great joy to see folks putting their education into action.

Pride season is here 🌈✨ And with it, more people coming out as TGX (trans and gender diverse) in their workplaces! While folks continue to commit to making their workplaces more inclusive, I've created a resource for sharing pronouns in your email signature. This may be new for many, and is something that is critical we learn about and normalize. Check out this resource at rexwilde.com/blog.

If you're looking for a deeper dive into pronouns best practices for your workplace, contact me today to learn more about training and consulting options during the month of June and beyond.

Happy Pride!
