/ 🦅 The Morning I Was Rescued by an Eagle 🦅
What began as a quiet morning paddle became a moment I’ll never forget. On the still water, something thrashing caught my eye—at first I thought it was a branch. But as I drew closer, my heart sank: a bald eagle, struggling, its wing hopelessly tangled in fishing line.
Fear whispered to stay back. Those talons and that beak could shred me in an instant. Yet something stronger—a mix of instinct and compassion—drove me forward. Hands shaking, I leaned over my kayak, inches from its piercing golden eyes, and began the painstaking work of cutting the line. One strand… two strands… until the final snap freed it.
The eagle hauled itself onto a log, soaked and trembling, then turned its gaze toward me. It didn’t attack, it didn’t flee—it simply stared, as if acknowledging a shared understanding. Then, with a powerful beat of wings, it soared into the sky, reclaiming its freedom.
That morning, I thought I had rescued the eagle. But in truth, it rescued me—from hesitation, from fear, and from forgetting that true courage often arrives in the most unexpected moments.
