AIM SoCal

AIM SoCal American Indian Movement Southern California (AIM SoCal) There are plenty of other sites for that. What is AIM?

American Indian Movement Southern California (AIM SoCal) operates independently “To protect and preserve the cultural, spiritual, treaty and human rights of all Indigenous People according to the standards established by the original founders of The American Indian Movement.”

This is not a Group Page to promote yourself, your merchandise, your music band, or look for a date. Do your research and

find out what the AMERICAN INDIAN MOVEMENT is about before you sign on this page;

it is not our job to “win” anyone over by being nice. We can look over history and see what being nice did for Native people- if this or any of occasional “colorful” language woven into some of the information on this site offends you, please find another site to feel good - We are busy at work here and don't have the interest or time to make you feel better- If your page has no personal info viewable your request to join will probably be denied. You can message the admins with info about who you are if you wish to be reconsidered. Background:

In 1968, the American Indian Movement was founded to turn the attention of Indian people towards a renewal of spirituality which would impart the strength of resolve needed to reverse the ruinous policies of the United States, Canada, and other colonialist governments of Central and South America. We are a grassroots national organization intended to restore dignity, respect and equality for Indigenous Peoples by changing policy in local, state & national government. We are an inter-tribal organization that does not recognize borders. We fight for the spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial liberation of our people. Our purpose is to encourage self-determination among First Nation Peoples and to establish international recognition for our civil and treaty rights. We know that our decisions, choices and actions are undertaken with an understanding and respect for the interconnectedness of all life and succeeding generations. We stand up for the preservation of our tribal languages and our sacred sites. We are one, of only a few other voices, that speaks loudly of Native Resistance

We are professional
We are organized
We are urban Indians
Disguised in different sizes, shapes and shades
Come join us...
You will have a lot of fun, and sleep well at night....

Thank you and have a good day--------

Today we honor and remember the children who never made it home from U.S. and Canadian boarding and residential schools. We also recognize the survivors who continue to carry the pain and resilience of those experiences.

As Native people, we carry these stories in our families and communities. We wear orange to remember, to honor, and to say: Every Child Matters.🧡

On this California Native American Day 🪶⭕️, we stand with pride: Governor Newsom has signed AB 1369, affirming the right of Native students to wear traditional tribal regalia at high school graduations.

Alongside this milestone, Governor Newsom signed:
🔺AB 221 – Tribal Nation Grant Fund
🔺AB 263 – Protecting salmon & watersheds
🔺AB 977 – Tribal burial sites & repatriation
🔺AB 1004 – Protecting tribal financial records

Gratitude to for all his efforts on behalf of California Indian Peoples and to all of our students who stood strong and spoke out to protect and defend their rights! 🦅

For all the students who came before, and all those yet to come — every child matters 🧡🧡🧡 We celebrate those who graduate, and honor those who never got the chance in systems not built for our success. We keep fighting. We are still here. We are rising.
