Why is it that phones shipped to Africa are of low quality?

Well don't blame the Chinese. Talk to your country people.
When you go to a factory in China. They will show you several quality of the product they make.
They openly will tell you that you will only be able to pass grade A thought customs in EU countries.
They will tell you that you can get up to Grade B into the US.
They will tell you that some countries will allow grade C in.
The African importer will ask them to make a grade E for them. Knowing bloody well that they can slip it past their customs.
So that is why the phones you get are low quality.
Because the African wanted it, and the African country's customs are doing nothing about it.
