The film is a culmination of her documentation of Afghanistan since 9/11, her family story, and the making of her album Lion of Panjshir.

After an agonizing experience taking her infant son to the ER and waiting hours to see a doctor, Renee Dua decided to form Heal to reduce the amount of waiting time to see a doctor, especially during evenings and weekends when doctor availability is extremely limited. She wanted to offer an affordable means for people of all ages who may have difficulties going to the doctor’s office or may not have insurance so that they could receive ongoing medical care. ✨ Since 1964, the number of female voters has exceeded the number of male voters in every U.S. presidential election. Both our healthcare and our reproductive choices are regulated by a majority male congress and in the workforce, women receive less funding when starting businesses, are paid less for the same level of work, and are not granted paid family leave. Women of color, transgender women, and women from low-income backgrounds face this racial and cultural discrimination at higher rates and are often disregarded in comparison to their white, female colleagues. This panel session will explore what it means to be a woman today, how to navigate and own societal power dynamics, and how to use your power to create more equitable communities.✨
