Mark Williams wows snooker fans in Bermuda with historic maximum 147 break double..
Runner-up in the 2025 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre just a few weeks ago, Mark Williams made not one, but TWO maximum 147 breaks during a recent snooker exhibition in Bermuda.
No snooker player has arguably been busier over the past month than ‘The Welsh Potting Machine’ with the 50-year-old having travelled to and performed in front of audiences in several different parts of the world.
Three-time World Champion Williams memorably reached his fifth world final near the start of May following an epic deciding frame victory over fellow ‘Class of 92’ member John Higgins in the quarter-finals, and a 17-14 defeat of world number one and tournament favourite Judd Trump in the semis.
The Welshman created history by becoming the oldest-ever finalist of snooker’s blue riband event, but his bid to lift the iconic trophy in Sheffield for a fourth time was thwarted at the last hurdle, as Zhao Xintong made history of his own in becoming the first Asian winner of the Championship following an 18-12 triumph.
That was the final action of the 2024/25 professional snooker season, but since then, Williams has barely had any time to put his feet up with his personal diary full of pre-arranged global engagements.
That was due to start with an appearance at the 2025 JOY World Heyball Masters in Chengdu, China, but because of his Crucible exploits which clashed, Williams had to withdraw from the big-money Chinese 8-ball pool event which was won by former snooker professional Niu Zhuang.
A quick turnaround after his World Championship campaign, Williams still travelled to the Far East for engagements, including an exhibition-style match with Mark Selby at the CBSA Snooker Superstar Invitational Tournament in Guangzhou, China. Williams won 5-4.
Williams then made his way to Finland for the second staging of the Taom Helsinki International Snooker Cup at the impressive House of Culture in the capital city.
The 26-time ranking event winner reached the semi-finals of the main event where he lost to Zhang Anda, 5-3, but on the preceding Friday night, Williams won the 16-player Super Shoot Out event, defeating Shaun Murphy in a thrilling final.
It has since been announced that Williams will appear in Finland again later this year with an exhibition match against Zhao.
A few days after his trip to Northern Europe, Williams travelled to a third different continent, as he landed in the archipelago islands of Bermuda, located approximately 650 miles off the coast of the state of North Carolina in the United States of America.
The green baize legend performed an exhibition in front of a sold-out audience at the Spanish Point Boat Club on Sunday 25th May.
During the show, MJW - who was joined by close friend, coach, and former World Seniors Snooker Champion Lee Walker - played several frames against opponents from the region.
Williams made two maximum 147 breaks - one against Bo Bromby, and the other against Paul Fedden, who is the President of the Bermuda Snooker Association - as well as two further centuries.
