Survival for my four children and me was a constant struggle — until someone began leaving food at our doorstep.
Following my husband's passing, my life unraveled quicker than I could mend it. At thirty-nine, I found myself raising four kids ALONE in a cramped rental filled with leaky pipes, unpaid bills, and a nearly bare refrigerator. On certain nights, I would feign a lack of hunger so my children could have a little extra to eat. Then one morning, I opened the front door and FROZE.
A bag of groceries was resting on the porch.
Bread. Milk. Eggs. Fresh fruit. No accompanying note. Initially, I suspected someone had made a MISTAKE.
However, the next morning, another bag showed up. Then another. EVERY SINGLE DAY. Whoever it was seemed to understand our needs perfectly. When Noah fell ill, medicine showed up. As winter approached, coats arrived in my children's exact sizes. My kids began referring to our anonymous benefactor as "the porch angel."
Yet, I felt TERRIFIED.
Because NOBODY was aware of how dire our situation truly was. I had never confided in anyone.
Then one night, a car pulled up outside around 2 a.m. I RUSHED to the window — but all I could glimpse were headlights fading into the DARK.
The following morning, there was no grocery bag.
Instead, an envelope lay there. Inside was a LETTER. Three brief sentences.
My hands began to SHAKING even before I had finished reading. 👇👇👇
