A boy is in critical condition after being hit by a tram on Tuesday afternoon in Wythenshawe, near the Crossacres tram stop. The incident, described as serious, resulted in emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire crews, rushing to the scene. The boy sustained "life-changing and potentially life-threatening injuries" and was taken to the hospital after being rescued from under the tram.
In response to the incident, tram services to Manchester Airport have been suspended, and the area surrounding the stop is taped off. Road closures are currently in effect on Brownley Road, Crossacres Road, and Poundswick Lane. Transport for Greater Manchester announced that tickets and passes for multiple bus services and Heavy Rail are being accepted as alternate travel options.
