I wrote the theme song and score for this human and magical show by Mackenzie Crook, who also did the artwork for the album.

A very long-distance interview with Malawian ethnomusicologist Waliko Makhala and the director of the Jacaranda Foundation and School in Malawi, Luc Deschamps, about our new compilation album: Sounds of Malawi Volume 1. In 2024, Hen House's Harlan Steinberger spent ten days at Jacaranda Studios in the outskirts of Blantyre city recording as many Malawian artists as possible, including legends like Gides Chalamanda, Keturah, Kasambwe Brothers, Lucky Stars, and more! Waliko produced the album and talks about his amazing life traveling all over Malawi trying to preserve and support Malawian musical traditions before they're lost. As Malawi is one of the least-known African nations, it's a real treat to get an insider's perspective on all of the country's beautiful cultures.

The top charts in

have unanimously
agreed to have Sounds of
Malawi Acoustic volume 1
album on number one.
This is a rare feat for
Malawian music in the recent
times.
Breakthrough
Yeah country folks, the great
news coming from Colorado
known for its exotic natural
heritage and position in the
West part of USA caught me
early in the morning.
This l bet was the time when
Denver the capital city was at
its finest hour to celebrate our
music.
Yeah country folks, the
album released under the
Sounds of Malawi Acoustic
Sessions record label, Jacaranda
Foundation in collaboration with
Harlan Steinberger and Randi
of Hen House Studios in Los
Angeles, California is rapidly
becoming popular. The other
states hopefully will feature the
album in their top charts too.
Yeah country folks, the album
features legendary musicians
including Agiddes Chalamanda
and Boniface Ndamera of Lucky
Stars fame. There are also other
artists including Local Girl
Keturah, Nyago, Eunice, Kefasi,
Winnie Msowoya and Goma
Nyondo.

has a variety of music styles
deeply rooted in the diverse
heritage of the motherland.

evident that the time for our
artists to focus on traditional

on indigenous music. This is the
