Join Carrie Shaw next week at the Games Beat Summit 4/27!
A live 15 minute Q/A will follow.
Her panel will discuss how games and game technology are making impressive inroads into health care, particularly in terms of directly treating health issues and in training caregivers. The panel will delve into the diversity of approaches with people involved in quite different health solutions, talking about the technologies involved and the promising future of this rapidly expanding field.
“In other words, CNAs are even more burned out, tired and exhausted because they are short-staffed and having to care for more residents and patients than normal.”
“What’s more, providers must offer ongoing mentoring, training, career advancement and other opportunities for CNAs.”
Embodied Labs can be part of the solution by integrating our immersive training to build a culture of care, inclusion, and respect.
The biggest challenge facing certified nursing assistants is the effects of the historic staffing shortage, according to a new survey.

What are your favorite Easter traditions?
Do they include a large family gathering? For someone living with dementia, these once-cherished traditions may suddenly feel overwhelming - causing anxiety or distress.
Some things to consider when planning your celebration:
- Most people living with dementia feel best in the late morning/early afternoon and struggle more in the evening. Consider gathering for brunch instead of dinner.
- Large, lively groups and background noise (such as television) often result in sensory overstimulation. Consider multiple, small-group visits over the course of a few days.
- Simple, intimate gatherings are less chaotic and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement.
- Focus on quality over quantity. If your loved one becomes overwhelmed or exhausted when socializing, get together for coffee or dessert instead of a full meal.
We’d like to thank Jenna Barkeim with Benedictine Living Community-Winona for going above and beyond by providing immersive experiences as walk-up training to facilitate dementia-friendly activities at Winona Friendship Center.
This Harvard Business Review article highlights how the metaverse can change the world. Embodied Labs is proudly mentioned for its accelerated experiential learning solutions.

The World Health Organization estimates that 134 million adverse events occur each year due to unsafe care.
40 percent of patients experience harm in ambulatory and primary care settings with an estimated 80 percent of these harms being preventable, according to WHO.
Embodied Labs Elder Safety & Well-Being Lab offer training and insight into topics such as Caregiver Burnout, Intervention & De-escalation, and Trauma-Informed Care.
When you step into the shoes of the people you assist or care for, you become aware of their emotions, cognitive or sensory deficiencies - an experience that no textbooks, readings that describe symptoms, or hours of simulations can equal.
Everyone wants to feel heard, seen, and understood.
This is our reason for being, and it’s only human to feel this way.
When we experience a way to immersively “walk in the shoes” of those we care for, we can anticipate their needs, connect on a deeper level, and serve them in a way that affirms their dignity.
We are ecstatic to be able to contribute support and empower Lorenzo's House within their community about understanding Alzheimer's and how meaningful interconnectedness within families or care teams increases quality of care not only for the loved one, but for the caregiver as well.
Lorenzo’s House was founded on one single love story - amid thousands, about how a younger-onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis touches a family. When you are younger living with Alzheimer’s there is a massive misunderstanding and resource gap that leaves families isolated and stigmatized. At Lorenzo’s House we share our stories as a way to fill this gap and empower families. Together we shift this narrative from isolation to connection, sorrow to joy and darkness to light.
Join us on Tuesday, May 3rd from 5-6pm CST for our premiere virtual screening of the short film, Shifting the Narrative: The Story of Lorenzo's House. This screening will be accompanied by a panel discussion comprised of caregivers and experts from UChicago Medicine - The Memory Center, Northwestern Medicine - Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology & Alzheimer's Diseasee, Advocate Aurora Health - Advocate Memory Center, Rush University Medical Center - Alzheimer's Disease Center, and Embodied Labs - who will exchange insights about the challenges and hopes for families living with younger-onset Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Embodied Labs is an immersive training company developing virtual reality experiences that allow people to embody the perspective of others.
Through these shared experiences, users are empowered with the understanding needed to help provide better and more effective care for their patients, customers, and family members.
We are transforming the way we care.
By better understanding their perspectives, we can help the people we serve to be more physically comfortable, emotionally healthy, and engaged in a purposeful and meaningful existence.
We are driven by the belief that by authentically embodying the experience of another person, we can empower those providing service and care with the understanding required to more effectively respond to the needs of others.
Having lived through the challenges inherent in caring for loved ones, we seek to create tools that help people navigate these difficult situations with confidence, competence, and compassion.
Our partners and friends at Embodied Labs are offering a 6-week virtual no-cost support program for family members caring for someone living with memory loss. Some of the program topics are:
• Identifying barriers to successful caregiving
• Building a support network
• Creating cognitive ramps emergency services
