✈️💔 REMEMBERING UNITED AIRLINES FLIGHT 232
One of aviation's most remarkable stories of tragedy and survival unfolded on July 19, 1989, when United Airlines Flight 232 suffered a catastrophic failure while flying over the Midwest.
The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 experienced the failure of its tail-mounted engine, which led to the loss of all three hydraulic systems—an event pilots had long considered nearly impossible to survive.
Despite having almost no normal flight controls, the flight crew worked together to guide the aircraft toward an emergency landing at Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, Iowa.
The aircraft ultimately crashed during the landing attempt.
📊 The outcome:
• 💔 111 people lost their lives
• 🙏 185 people survived
• 👨✈️ The crew's extraordinary actions saved many lives under nearly impossible circumstances
The accident remains one of the most studied events in aviation history. Investigators, engineers, and pilots continue to examine Flight 232 as an example of exceptional teamwork, courage, and emergency decision-making.
More than three decades later, the flight is remembered not only for its tragedy but also for the resilience of the survivors and the heroic efforts of the flight crew and first responders.
🕊️ We remember the 111 lives lost and honor everyone affected by this historic aviation disaster.
