Who is Jean-Jacques Boissy?
Origins and Training
Born on January 28, 2000, in Dakar, Jean-Jacques is the son of Élysée Boissy — a former Senegalese international player. He initially played football before switching to basketball at age 15, influenced by his father. He joined the NBA Academy Africa in Saly, where he trained before continuing his studies and basketball career in Rwanda.
Professional Debut
After his time at the Academy, he enrolled at the African Leadership University in Rwanda in 2019 and played for Patriots BBC. He later joined United Generation Basketball Club in the Rwandan league. Returning to Senegal, he played for SIBAC (2020–2021), then moved to Spain to join CB Cornellà (2021–2022).
Success in Africa
In 2023, back on home soil, Boissy joined AS Douanes. He won the Saint Michel Cup, earning MVP honors with 28 points in the final, and led the team to the BAL final. He was named to the All-BAL First Team and the All-Defensive Team.
Recent Career and Major Achievements
Burundi (Urunani BC)
In 2024, he signed with Urunani BC in Burundi, winning the national championship, earning Finals MVP, and finishing as the league’s top scorer.
Rwanda (REG BBC)
In early 2025, he joined REG BBC in Rwanda, where he continued to impress — scoring up to 37 points in a single game.
Basketball Africa League (BAL) – 2025
Later in 2025, he played for Al Ahli Tripoli (Libya), helping the club win the BAL — the first-ever title for a Libyan team. Boissy became the first Senegalese player to win the BAL, and was named BAL MVP, top scorer (averaging 18.9 points per game), and best three-point shooter. He was once again named to both the All-BAL First Team and the All-Defensive First Team.
G League Recruitment (USA)
In July 2025, Boissy signed with the Windy City Bulls, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls.
