Last week in Washington DC, documenting advocating with the Pilot Mental Health Campaign for The Mental Health in Aviation Act, legislation that will help pilots and other aviation industry personnel access basic mental health treatments without fear of being grounded indefinitely by the FAA.

We’ve never been up close and personal in Washington DC in this way, seeing how the work of introducing legislation happens, and what it takes to gather bi-partisan support to create change. It’s challenging and often thankless work, but it’s inspiring to see how a group of concerned citizen volunteers can come together and make a difference.

We love seeing our work on the big screen, so it was fun to attend the City of Industry’s State of the City event yesterday.

We collaborated with and to produce a series of videos profiling people and businesses making an impact in the community, whether it was The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, ramping up to help support those impacted by the wildfires or Bentley Mills, a local commercial carpeting firm that consistently pushes the boundaries of creativity and sustainability.

As we sat in the packed audience watching the videos, it struck us what a powerful tool video is for events, helping to add energy, excitement, and inspiration. Video is also such a powerful tool to educate, inform, and bring people together— something we witnessed at yesterday’s event, as the City of Industry community came together to share their wins, discuss their challenges, and set the vision for the year ahead.

At Long Haul Films, we believe in the power of small businesses, and the huge positive impact of having a thriving network of locally owned companies in our region. We love being a part of telling their stories, and hope we get to do it for many years to come.

Since there are some new folks around here, we wanted to re-introduce Long Haul Films to you.

We’re a film and video production company, and we’ve been around since 2012. Since that time:
🎥we’ve made hundreds of videos that have wracked up millions of views online
🎥made feature length and short films that have screened at dozens of film festivals, and won several awards
🎥helped countless brands, business owners, and non-profits share their stories and engage audiences

Our big focus is documentary storytelling and branded content, and we’ve worked with clients all around the world in tech/entrepreneurship, non-profit and fundraising, real estate and urban development, fashion and consumer goods, the music industry, and with so many small businesses. Even though documentary is our passion, we also make product videos and commercials, shoot music videos, and work on scripted short videos and films.

We hear our clients and collaborators repeat certain things about why they love working with us:

🎥the way we put on-camera talent at ease–– even for folks who aren’t used to being in front of the camera

The most important thing to share with you is our “why”. We believe that film is one of the most powerful mediums for generating empathy, expanding understanding, eliciting emotion, and creating connection. If you’ve ever left a movie theater with that floaty feeling, like you’ve been transported to a different reality, then you understand the power of film. And we’ve always wanted to use that power to help people tell stories that matter, and create postive change.

Xyla is an engineer, aviator, YouTube influencer, and someone we admire and respect for the work she does, especially watching the many paths she’s helped to pave for women in traditionally male-dominated fields.

Xyla told us the astonishing story of how talking openly about struggles she experienced after getting an IUD led to the loss of her FAA medical certificate, effectively grounding her from flying.

Not only were we shocked to hear about what Xyla is going through as she fights for her right to fly again, her experience raises critical questions about access to professional mental health support for pilots—an issue that affects all of us who rely on air travel.

What happens when a YouTube engineering and aviation influencer shares the story of struggling with her mental health after an IUD insertion? Why, she gets reported to the FAA, "diagnosed" with hysteria, and grounded-- maybe for life.

Xyla Foxlin speaks out about her experience, and why everyone who flies needs to care about how the FAA's policies push pilots who need mental health support into the shadows... and even out of the cockpit for life.

Last week we had quite the challenging project with a major global tech brand— we filmed all day on Friday with the company’s leadership team here in California, then took the content and crafted it into a 90-minute program that was livestreamed by the company on Monday.

It took a ton of planning, tight ex*****on, lots of teamwork and a boatload of caffeine to pull this one off. We didn’t sleep much, but we did manage to pull together a 90-minute edit in under 48 hours, which helped this client engage, inform, and inspire their employee base.

We are devastated at the losses suffered by so many in Los Angeles as fires burn across the city. The filmmaking community here has been through many challenges in the last few years, making it hard to confront another emergency. We know so many are drained, exhausted, and scared.

We are currently safe, and keeping an eye on the situation as it develops. Friends in LA, please reach out if you need any help or support. It breaks our hearts to witness people in our community who have already lost their homes or studios.

We send love and gratitude out to the brave first responders fighting the fires across the city. And friends we hope you, your families, and your pets remain safe and healthy.

Recently, we shared a video we made to introduce a new office building in Denver to potential tenants. Today, we have some from the shoot for anyone who wants a glimpse at what it took to bring this production together.

The building was still “a work in progress” while we filmed, which gave us the excuse to do one of our favorite things— wear a hard hat and high-viz vest (it makes us feel so official!).

A big part of our storytelling approach for this client was to bring to life the people and places that make Lower Downtown Denver such a dynamic location to work— so beyond simply filming the building, we got the chance to meet some cool, local small businesses, and hear about their unique experiences in the neighborhood.

Thanks to the hard working Denver crew and the cast of extras! This was such a fun one. 🎥⛰️

Life is full of unexpected turns. Sometimes the journey isn’t what you imagined, but that doesn’t mean the mission is over.

As co-founders of Long Haul Films, we’ve always been transparent about our relationship and how it’s evolved, but we’ve been a little quiet this year as we adjusted to a new development.

After years of building both a life and a business together, we’re no longer married—but we’re still very much partners in filmmaking. 🎥 💼💪

Through all the changes, our shared vision for Long Haul Films remains the same. We still have each other’s backs, still care deeply about the success of this company, and most importantly, still share a commitment to creating meaningful work with our incredible clients.

Sometimes, growth means embracing change and adapting to new circumstances. A strong partnership isn’t defined by labels—it’s about respect, shared goals, and the willingness to keep moving forward. 🚀

Hey friends, it’s been a minute. We’ve been soooooo bad about sharing our adventures in filmmaking this year, so starting to play catch-up with some fun from our shoot in Dublin with our friends at

Mozilla hosted its second Rise25 awards in Dublin this August, and honored 25 people from all around the world who are working to make Artificial Intelligence more open, accessible, and inclusive. The Long Haul Films team got the opportunity to film profiles with several of this year’s winners, and delve into their unique and impactful journeys in the AI space.
