Join us for an unforgettable musical experience as we present "Rugido del León," a mesmerizing live performance by the renowned artist Alika, backed by the sensational reggae band, Quinto Sol. This enchanting event took place at the vibrant Pura Vybz Latin reggae party, hosted by Senator Jones in Santa Monica, California. July the 20th of 2023 aka "Friends Day" in Argentina.
Alika, an exceptional Uruguayan-Argentine rapper, singer, and reggae musician, graced the stage with her powerful lyrics and soulful melodies. Inspired by Rastafari philosophy, Alika's music reflects themes of respect, dignity, and the struggles of everyday life in the Third World. Her passionate performance of "Rugido del León" left the audience in awe and immersed in the magic of her reggae vibes.
Quinto Sol, a dynamic reggae band hailing from East Los Angeles, added their unique touch with roots-reggae woven seamlessly with Latin rhythms like Cumbia, Rumba, and son. Together, Alika and Quinto Sol created a world-beat tour of music, taking the audience on a transcendent journey of unity and cultural celebration.
Despite a near postponement due to Alika's delayed flight from Mexico, she arrived just in time to ignite the stage with her electrifying presence. The energy in the air was palpable as attendees sang, danced, and immersed themselves in the uplifting atmosphere.
Pura Vybz is more than just a party; it's an artistic celebration that echoes the essence of Make Art Not War. Through showcasing diverse voices and talents, we continue to foster a community of artists and art enthusiasts, locally and internationally, united by their passion for creativity and expression.

She's a worthy representative of the Latin American dancehall scene, an iconic figure of the fight against injustices and violence in the Argentine and Latin American "barrios"... Alika started her career in 1994 with a band, but she quickly took wing and set up a solo career which led herself beyond her expectations! Recognized as an hip hop artist, Alika wakes the reggae world in Argentina with engaging lyrics, breathtaking energy and remarkable stage presence. A Molotov cocktail which almost crossed the entire planet !

Even the genius, Mad Professor, started to be interested in her and helped produce many of her albums. He produced her 5th album in 2009, “Mad Professor Meets Alika”, a jewel which convinced the genre experts and permitted her to expand her talent all over the world. She has continued to release new music almost every year with 16 albums in her catalog. The most recent is 2022’s “Sistren Songs and Dubs” with Mad Professor.

Her charisma and presence on stage have allowed her to take her show to festivals, theaters, clubs, schools, hospitals and even prisons in different cities around the world—including Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, Brasil, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, United States of America. France, Spain and Andorra.—marking a truly amazing career for someone who to this day remains an independent artist. Her tune ¨Yo Tengo el don¨ Feat. Tito y La Liga is included in the soundtrack of video game GRAND THEFT AUTO V.
