The overused literary trope of the “femme fatale,” the mysterious temptress who leads men to ruin, is often applied to women who dare to step outside societal boundaries and seize power usually reserved for men. Spanning genres from riot grrrl to IDM to math rock to neo-soul, the female artists I curate for my show take this stereotype of a skin-deep “fatal female" and turn it on its head, showing

listeners how lethal their musicianship and creativity can really be. My show will pay equal respect to lady crooners of yore and contemporary rockers, deep cuts from obscure chick-fronted noise bands and the latest pop-princess hit du jour, and global rhythms and local LA sounds recorded a stone’s throw from campus.
