Our friends at Superfine Pizza and the Skid Row Housing Trust are partnering this month for a true act of yummy kindness.
Superfine will be delivering free pizza dinners once a week and throughout the month to our very in-need neighbors of Skid Row. Superfine invites anyone to join in on this humbling initiative by donating a buck or few with each phone or restaurant order.
It’s the season of giving...lots of pizza❤️🎄🎅🏿🤶🏽🍕
“Like most food spots that go viral these days, it was through good reviews on Yelp and mouth watering pics via Instagram that garnered Chef Johnny Lee his traction. A local blogger dubbed him the “Prince of Poultry,” due to his cooking at least 1000 chickens a month.” 📝
“Little Llama Peruvian Tacos, which is just a brisk walk from City Hall to Main & 2nd, got its start at Smorgasburg four years ago. Co-owners Angela Wagner and Chef Jean Valcarcel knew from the get-go that Downtown LA would always be home. “I wanted to do something very true to my Peruvian roots, but I am an Angeleno,” Valcarcel tole me, “I have been here for 20 years now. I wanted to mix those two things and create something new. I wanted to introduce Peruvian flavors in a new way, and in a taco... kind of like a trojan horse.” 📝
We’re quite ecstatic about all the success our friends at Petite Peso have had this year. They just launched there new site (
http://pesogoods.com). This is your last day to purchase anything off their store for 25% off.
OG Merch + new collections + and even their heavenly Frozen Lumpia delivered directly to your door (SoCal folks exclusive).
“As Californians, cannabis culture has long been an acceptable pastime, and even a medicinal healer for many. It's thanks to our more liberal school of thought that dispensaries were deemed essential during the current pandemic. It’s fledgling industry has shifted to a more customer care-based model, and no one has exemplified that better than Sweet Flower.” 📝
“Each room feels warm, personal, and due to the building’s fine wine aging (it was completed in 1893), welcoming as well. The casual chats and intimate access to fellow members seems part of the perks of working here.” 📝
Anyone in the mood for some smores by the fire? How about at the Moroccan oasis of Hotel Figueroa? Sounds like a poolside dream indeed:D
The S'mores and Spread winter-only exclusive ($40) gives you a Mexican-inspired holiday feast. Items included are Abela’s Hot Chocolate, Colorful Conchas sweet bread and more, courtesy of Figureoa’s Chef Adrian Garcia.
The setting is a charming little cabana by the poolside. Call a friend or two, grab your masks, and head out for some fireside chats.
Have you ever wondered what it would look like if you were saved by a Lllama? Well, that's what we're here for. We are quite giddy to show you a sneak peak at our December issue, featuring the fantastic Little Lllama Peruvian Tacos:D
Inflatable lifesaver llamas, everywhere. You're welcome.
A very surreal . It feels like eons ago since Kobe passed away on January 26th. Since then, we have gone through stay-at-home-orders, BLM protests, nightly curfews, covid surges, and a historic turnout of voters on election day.
To put it mildly, 2020 has been quite the year, but Downtowner's are looking up.
From Pershing Square to City Hall, its unequivocal: Downtowners are rejoicing! An overwhelming sense of celebration is occurring, from the thousands marching district-through-district, to the many more along the skyline of apartment buildings chanting and cheering them on.
No matter who you voted for, we should all be proud that this is what American Democracy looks like. The highest turnout in history, the most nail-biting race in a generation; the undying pride that every vote must count.
Hard to believe, but we are just two days away from Election Day. Friendly reminder: the Central Library is the perfect spot to drop off your mail-in ballot. Feel like a responsible citizen, take in some of those Ancient Egyptian-inspired aesthetics, and maybe talk to a few guards about their favorite books. You can also ask them when its reopening; we miss non-digitized knowledge.
We’re a little distracted by all the neon above the new grand central market bazaar! It’s a must for any fashionista looking to quell these covid-stressed days with some nice vintage feels.
The Bazaar is opened on weekends, starting at 11am until market closing. Home decor, plants, books, apparel. Don’t miss out on all the cool vibes!
