Millie On Air Productions is an independent production company producing premium drama and film content for an international audience. Acknowledging a dearth of strong feminine narratives within the world of film, and recognising an imbalance of female influence behind the camera, the company was formed to remedy this by producing high quality content with a powerful female voice. MOA Productions' first project Spirit Stones, which was directed, produced and co-written by Heywood, achieved critical acclaim when it was selected as a finalist in 2014's Tropfest short film festival. It was also accepted into the 2015 Court des Iles festival in Tahiti, and was picked up for distribution by TribalTV, a digital channel on TV4 showcasing indigenous content from around the world. Millie On Air Productions' next project, Girl Falling, is a short film about an innocent teenage girl’s search for love that brings about a betrayal from those closest, leading to devastating events that will call into question everything she had imagined for her future. The film seeks to explore the vulnerability of the adolescent mind and society’s attitudes towards women and sexual assault. Girl Falling was written and directed by Heywood, produced by Chloe Lawrence-Hartcher and shot by the award-winning ACS accredited cinematographer Velinda Wardell. The film is currently in post-production and will be released on the film festival circuit in 2017.
