MACRO Foundation and a16z’s Epigraph program brought together a group of incredibly talented creatives to explore what’s possible when storytelling and technology meet; without losing the human experience at the heart of the work.

What kicked off at MACRO’s Pre-Oscars Party - carried through July with workshops, including in-person workshops at a16z offices, culminated at Summernight, where our inaugural cohort debuted their concepts to a room of like-minded creatives and decision-makers. Bold ideas, meaningful connections and a glimpse of what happens when creative voices define how emerging technology expands the way they tell their stories.

In partnership with Netflix and Higher Ground, we are proud to announce Women Like Us, a new original comedy film from MACRO Film Studios.

Women Like Us is a heartfelt comedy about friendship, grief, resilience, and the sisterhood that reminds us our dreams never have an expiration date.

Set to begin production this fall in NYC, Women Like Us stars Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox. The film will be directed by Tasha Smith from an original script by Ali Kinney, with writing by Tracy Oliver.

Produced by James Lopez and Poppy Hanks for MACRO Film Studios, and Anikah McLaren and Mark R. Wright for Higher Ground, the film is executive produced by Charles D. King for MACRO Film Studios and Michelle Obama for Higher Ground.
